Position Summary
The Human Resource Generalist serves as a consultant to management and employees on various Human Resource related areas such as workforce planning and recruitment, on-boarding, performance management, employee relations, policy interpretation and application, absence/leave management, working with current HRIS systems, workers’ compensation, compensation and benefits and employee recognition events for Chinook Winds Casino Resort.
Essential Functions
- May coordinate recruitment, selection, and assist in hiring process of nonexempt and exempt positions of internal and external applicants for Chinook Winds Casino Resort.
- May coordinate the recruitment and selection process by collecting Personnel Requisitions, posting job openings, advertising employment opportunities, reviewing applications, scheduling interviews, conducting pre-employment screens, and extending job offers.
- May communicate with applicants and prospective new hires on all aspects of the hiring process and employment opportunities.
- Establishes and maintains strong relationships with the management teams to understand their needs and drive productivity through HR support and consultation.
- May work closely with CTSI programs to help recruit tribal members for employment.
- May oversee the on-boarding process for all applicants, new hires and re-hires.
- Develops and attends hiring events and other community-based activities on behalf of Chinook Winds Casino Resort.
- Inputs HRIS data and reviews output for accuracy.
- Generates various reports and analyzes data.
- Participate in organizing employee events and recognition programs.
- Serves as an advisor/consultant to leadership and employees on HR-related employee disciplinary and conflict resolution issues and concerns.
- Works closely with the Siletz Tribal Gaming Commission in regards licensure matters.
- May develop, implement, and maintain a system to track Siletz Tribal applicants and outcomes.
- May assist Management with development and editing of position descriptions.
- May assist injured employees with the Workers’ Compensation process.
- May assist employees with protected leave related matters.
- May assist with special projects as needed.
- Foster a culture of employee engagement, inclusion, and diversity within the organization.
- Maintains confidentiality of all Human Resources matters.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Education
Bachelor’s Degree is preferred, and a minimum of three years HR or leadership experience OR a minimum of five years HR or leadership experience (with relevant experience; equivalent education and/or experience; and/or experience through certifications.)
HR experience should encompass generalist experience or at least 2 or more areas of specialty e.g. talent acquisition, employee relations, benefits etc.
Experience
Three years experience in Human Resources with working knowledge of generalist role and responsibility or three years’ experience and responsibilities in at least 2 or more areas of specialty e.g. talent acquisition, employee benefits etc.
Three years’ experience working in an Administrative/Office setting.
Computer Skills
Microsoft Office intermediate level with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Certificates & Licenses
Must obtain a Siletz Tribal Gaming License.
SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred or similar HR related certification.

Other Physical Requirements
Work Environment
Work will take place in a small office environment with occasional exposure to a busy resort and gaming environment with multiple distractions. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. Occasionally the work environment will be in locations exposed to smoke and the associated affects.
Working Conditions
Conditions of employment include passing a pre-employment drug screen, a background investigation, and completing a 180 day introductory period.
