SUMMARY:
The Material Handler is responsible for moving inventory and materials to and from the warehouse.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly sits for sustained periods of time to operate a computer and other office equipment such as printers and copy machines. The employee is frequently required to use fingers, hands, and arms to lift, carry, push, pull, reach, handle, move, or grasp objects of various sizes; occasionally uses hand tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity with both hands; frequently required to stand; walk, stand, stoop, kneel, or crouch on a regular basis. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds. The employee is required to sit on and drive a forklift or stand on and operate a scissor lift safely. Employee must be able to see, hear, and talk and maintain a concentrated attention to detail when performing this role.

- Work safely and promote safety at all times. Always follow all safety rules, regulations, and requirements and safety is completed on a timely basis. Improve upon safety issues and concerns in a timely manner in coordination with other team members.
- Safely operate forklift, including safely placing/removing dock plates while loading/unloading tractor trailers.
- Safely operate narrow aisle lift and scissor lift while moving materials in the warehouse.
- Safely operate the vertical carousel storage units, including inputting the coordinates on the keypad to pull the parts/materials that are needed; may include using a ladder/picker to retrieve the items.
- Assist in warehouse organization and appearance, while adhering to all regulatory compliance (such as safety data sheets for incoming chemicals) and safety procedures.
- Visually check all materials for any damage to the package or contents and document in SAP accordingly.
- Compare accompanying paperwork against contents and original purchasing records to confirm that the proper items have been received. Input verification of the same.
- Deliver supplies and equipment to departments by receiving and transferring items.
- Maintain storage area by organizing floor space, adhering to storage design principles and recommending improvements.
- Secure warehouse by turning alarms on/off at the beginning or end of the day, testing systems, and locking or unlocking doors and gates.
- Ensure that all electronic transactions are completed daily in SAP to maintain inventory accuracy.
- Ensure that all customer and machine job orders are processed within customer expectations and requirements.
- Ensure that all receipts and restocking of bins are processed in a timely manner.
- Shipping and receiving, including shipments out of the country (paperwork), for a variety of carries that include but are not limited to FedEx, DHL, UPS, LTL, and door-to-door.
- Order and maintain an appropriate level of shipping supplies.
- Communicate with other departments and external customers/suppliers as needed.
- Excellent safety record and commitment to working safely is required. Candidates must be willing and able to wear safety shoes.
- Packing, crating and expediting experience is required.
- Prior experience working in a warehouse environment is strongly desired.
- Forklift, narrow-aisle lift, and scissor lift certified or ability to successfully complete on-site certification.
- SAP knowledge is a plus, especially as it relates to warehouse, shipping, receiving, and inventory.
- Computer skills for scanning, data entry, and spreadsheet development/maintenance. Knowledge of SharePoint and Microsoft products is required.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to communicate in English clearly, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to maintain cooperative relationships with internal and external customers.
- This is a first shift position, typically working 7 am – 3:30 pm. Start and end times may fluctuate as business conditions dictate. Ability to be on call on a rotating basis on weekends is required.
