Duties and responsibilities
Chiyoda USA, a leading plastic injection molding company and tier-one automotive supplier, is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Staff Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, particularly within a manufacturing environment, and will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information. This role involves managing general ledger activities, supporting the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements, supporting audits, and contributing to budgeting and forecasting processes. The Senior Staff Accountant will also play a key role in maintaining internal controls and driving process improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting: Support the preparation, review, and analysis of financial statements to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP and FASB.
- General Ledger Management: Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring that all transactions are accurately recorded, and discrepancies are promptly resolved.
- Cost Accounting: Monitor and analyze manufacturing costs, including overhead allocation, labor, and material costs, to ensure accurate product costing and inventory valuation.
- Month-End and Year-End Close: Support the month-end and year-end closing processes, including preparation of journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts, and monitor actual performance against these projections.
- Audit Support: Prepare documentation and provide support during internal and external audits, ensuring timely and accurate responses to audit inquiries.
- Tax Compliance: Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations.
- Internal Controls: Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with company policies.
- Asset Management: Track and manage company assets, ensuring proper accounting treatment and depreciation schedules.
- Post Payroll to General Ledger: Accurately post payroll transactions to the general ledger, ensuring proper allocation of labor costs and related expenses.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance accounting processes, improve efficiency, and reduce costs within the department.
- Team Leadership: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior accounting staff, ensuring their professional development and the accuracy of their work.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CMA certification preferred.
- 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and experience with financial reporting and general ledger management.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar ERP systems) and advanced Excel skills.
- Experience with cost accounting and inventory management in a manufacturing setting.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
- Experience with process improvement initiatives and implementation of internal controls.
Working Conditions:
- Primarily office-based with occasional visits to manufacturing areas as needed.
- May require extended hours during month-end, year-end, and audit periods.
Salary : $60,000 - $70,000
