Position OverviewChizuk Amuno Congregation is seeking a passionate and dedicated Community Organizer/Congregational Engagement Director to join our team. This position will play a vital role in fostering a vibrant, inclusive, and collaborative environment within our congregation. The ideal candidate will work to engage members, build relationships, and create opportunities for collective action, learning, and social connection. Through innovative programming, partnerships, and leadership development, this role will empower individuals to actively contribute to the synagogue’s mission and values.
Key Responsibilities
- Community-Wide Programming Development: Design, organize, and execute a wide range of programs that appeal to the diverse needs and interests of our entire synagogue community, from young children to older adults. Programs should focus on fostering spiritual, educational, and social engagement.
- Community Engagement & Relationship Building: Cultivate relationships with synagogue members and leadership to build a sense of community. Organize events and programs that bring together diverse groups, fostering meaningful connections and collaboration across the congregation. Must be able to strategize programming that meets the needs of the differing populations within the synagogue and community while maintaining the mission of the institution.
- Collaborative Program Development:Work with synagogue staff, lay leaders, members and ancillary groups to design and implement programming that aligns with the synagogue’s mission, values, and needs. Focus on creating spaces for community-building and collaborative initiatives such as educational events, social action projects, and cultural celebrations.
- Communication & Outreach: In collaboration with our Marketing professionals, develop communication strategies to keep the community informed, engaged, and motivated. Utilize digital platforms, newsletters, and social media to build excitement and promote participation in synagogue events and projects.
- Event Coordination & Facilitation:Plan and execute events that foster collaboration, including Shabbat dinners, study groups, social events, and intergenerational programs. Ensure that events are inclusive, accessible, and encourage participation from all demographics within the congregation.
Qualifications
- Experience:Previous experience in community organizing, event planning, or a similar role, ideally in a Jewish or faith-based environment. Strong understanding of Jewish traditions, values, and practices is highly preferred.
- Skills & Abilities:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse groups and foster collaboration.
- Proven ability to plan and execute events and programs.
- Experience with social justice work and/or advocacy initiatives.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to motivate, empower, and build leadership capacity within the community.
- Experience with social media, email marketing, and other communication platforms to engage the community.

Additional Information
- Salary: $60,000 - $70,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
- Position Type: Full-Time Exempt
- Hours: Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.; Friday, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.; occasional evenings and weekends required to accommodate synagogue programming and events.
- Location: In-person role based in Baltimore, MD.
