Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Human Resources Manager to lead and direct routine functions of the Human Resource (HR) Department. This multifaceted position involves managing HR operations, leading recruiting efforts, and providing oversight for office and facilities management. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, exceptional organizational abilities, and a comprehensive understanding of both HR practices and office operations. This role is based in Richmond, VA and is a hybrid position.   

  

Responsibilities: 


Recruiting & Workforce Planning 

  • Manage full-cycle recruiting through Paylocity and LinkedIn, including job postings, sourcing, screening, and scheduling interviews. 
  • Partner with hiring managers to assess current and future hiring needs and implement best practices. 
  • Write and update job descriptions in collaboration with hiring managers, ensuring alignment with organizational needs. 
  • Coach hiring managers on recruitment strategies, interview techniques, and inclusive hiring practices. 
  • Track HR metrics such as turnover rates, hiring trends, and workforce planning data to inform leadership decisions. 
  • Manage the onboarding and offboarding processes to ensure a seamless employee experience. 

HRIS & Data Management 

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for Paylocity (HRIS), managing system functionality, troubleshooting, and optimizing workflows. 
  • Maintain and audit employee records. 
  • Generate reports and analyze HR metrics, including turnover rates, hiring trends, and workforce planning data. 

Employee Relations, Engagement & Development 

  • Provide guidance to managers and employees on performance management, career development, and employee relations. 
  • Conduct exit interviews, benefit surveys, and engagement surveys to measure employee sentiment and improve retention. 
  • Handle workplace conflicts, mediate disputes, and conduct investigations into employee concerns. 
  • Implement training programs for employees and managers on leadership, compliance, and career growth. 
  • Manage employee recognition programs and engagement strategies to foster a positive work culture. 

Compensation, Benefits & Compliance 

  • Conduct salary benchmarking. 
  • Oversee benefits administration, including auditing monthly invoices for accuracy across all benefit plans. 
  • Manage internal Tuition Reimbursement and Employee Development Program’s. 
  • Ensure compliance with FMLA, ADA, OSHA, EEOC, and other federal/state employment laws; complete accommodation requests and related documentation. 
  • Maintain and audit HR records, ensuring compliance with internal policies and legal requirements. 
  • Provide input on budgeting, invoicing, and financial aspects related to office operations and Human Resources. 
  • Develop, update, and enforce HR policies and the employee handbook, ensuring alignment with employment laws and company best practices. 

Office & Facilities Oversight 

  • Supervise and provide guidance to the Office Manager, ensuring efficient office operations and facilities management. 
  • Act as the escalation point for facility-related issues, emergency procedures, and workspace needs. 

Other duties as assigned. 

Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum of three years as an HR Generalist or similar role.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field. 
  • Integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality. 
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills. 
  • Excellent organization, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize or delegate as needed. 
  • Hands-on experience with Paylocity (HRIS) or strong proficiency with other HRIS and talent management systems, with a proven ability to quickly adapt to new platforms. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Solid understanding of employment laws and regulations. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or related software. 
  • Certifications: SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred.
