POSITION DESCRIPTION
HUMAN RESOURCES SPECIALIST
Reports to: Human Resources Director
FLSA Status: HOURLY
Primary Objective: The Human Resources Specialist will be primarily responsible for onboarding of new employees, Leave Tracking, in addition to supporting other HR operations within the department. The HR Specialist will report to the HR Director.
Essential Functions:
- Phone screens candidates and forwards best candidates to managers.
- Schedules candidates interview process
- Follow-up with job offers after interviews
- Conducts references and background checks
- Manages I-9 process for new employees.
- Schedules and administers new employee orientation process. Ensures all paperwork is complete, and all background and reference checking has been done.
- Enters all new employee information into the Paychex flex system.
- Sets up new employee files
- Assists in selection and implementation of recruitment/onboarding systems.
- Produces data and reports as requested.
- Manages Leaves and Workers Compensation cases.
- Cross trains for all other HR processes, such as UI reporting, WC reporting, compliance reporting, employee separations, backs up HR business partner/operations in her absence.
- Participates in Employee Engagement Activities.
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualification:
- BA Degree in Business or Human Resources -or-
- 4 years’ successful experience in Human Resources.
- Working knowledge of recruiting/search sites such as really, LinkedIn, Monster.
- Experience working with temp and perm placement agencies
- Working knowledge of Federal and State (CA) employment laws
- SPHR/PHR Certification and healthcare experience preferred

- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and confidence with Employees, physicians and staff.
- Demonstrated marketing skills.
- Systems skills including: HRIS, Payroll, Benefits Portal, Microsoft Office Suite.
- Demonstrated ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential information.
- Desire to be a team player
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $28.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
