What are the responsibilities and job description for the Entry-Level Tax Associate for CPA Firm position at Choice Tax Relief?
Choice Tax Relief, Inc. is seeking a full-time Entry-Level Tax Preparer to prepare tax returns for its year-round tax practice.
We do NOT have the crazy working hours you'll find at standard CPA practices. While there is a slight bump in productivity leading up to the major tax deadlines, our work is far more spread out year-round than it is at the majority of CPA practices.
The vast majority of the returns we do are relatively straightforward 1040 returns prepared based on wage and income transcripts as well as other documents provided by the client, though we do have some 1120, 1120S, 1065, and CA 568 (SMLLC) work.
We often have to do multiple years of tax returns for a single client because they haven't filed in some time.
The ideal candidate is an organized, self-motivated, personable individual with sharp critical thinking skills and attention to detail.
Pursuit of CPA license and/or EA credential is encouraged, and we will support high-performing candidates in earning these.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting
- Must work with a strong sense of urgency & accountability
- Extremely high level of attention to detail is a must; you must detail review the documents you receive to prepare returns as well as the returns you prepare before sending for review
- Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing, with internal team members as well as clients
- Strong interpersonal skills
Responsibilities:
- Prepare federal and state individual income tax returns for current and past years
- Analyze IRS wage and income transcripts for tax return preparation purposes
- Prepare tax return workpapers that match the return for ease of review
- Communicate with clients to obtain necessary information to complete their tax returns as well as the "results" of their tax returns
- Monitor tax return calendar to ensure timely filings
- Collect signature pages from client and paper file / e-file returns promptly
- Make sure e-filed returns are accepted
- Record client communication, internal communication, and tax return documents in CRM
- Mail returns that have to be paper-filed
- Sell clients on next year's tax return preparation and other services we can provide (yes, you will be paid a commission for work you sell)
