Behavioral Health Program Specialist - Queen Anne's County Scools
Job Summary : The SBHC Behavioral Health Program Specialist (BHPS) provides direct support to the SBHC therapist to ensure the delivery of efficient and effective behavioral health care. The BHPS performs a range of administrative support including scheduling, insurance authorization and case management duties for Behavioral Health patients at the direction of the Behavioral Health providers, along with outreach to support community relationships. This is a nonexempt, full-time position in pay grade 3 with the pay range of $19.14 - $24.88. The Behavioral Health Program Specialist reports directly to the Behavioral Health Director in a dyad with the Community Based Programs Director.
Required Skills / Abilities :
- Working knowledge of automated patient data systems.
- Must be proficient in computer skills.
- Must have basic math skills.
- Ability to use office equipment such as computers, printers, telephones, fax machines and copier machines.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities at once with minimal supervision.
- Working knowledge of ICD10 and CPT codes
Education and Experience :
High School Diploma or equivalent3-5 years in healthcare related field required.Insurance billing experience helpful.Knowledge of basic medical terminology preferred.Standards of Behavior :

Models AIDET in all patient interactions.Adheres to and models CCHS Standards of BehaviorResponsible for the input of the patient charge entry and coding process as needed.Works with all areas and levels within the organization to collect any necessary information related to charge posting.Obtains insurance authorizations as needed.Reviews insurance denials : implement procedures to remedy or reduce the number of denials.Works cooperatively / cohesively with the BH Program Manager to resolve issues or identified charge posting process.Pre-registration, appointment confirmation, scheduling of all behavioral health patient appointments.Post charges to the practice management system as needed.Verifies insurance information, assists with enrollment in sliding fee and other benefit products.Opens and distributes mail.Scans patient related documents to electronic medical record.Completes patient school-based enrolment forms and coordinates and monitoring of patient referrals and waitlists.Case management for behavioral health patients to connect BH patients to community programs at the request of behavioral health providers, parents / guardians, and school related staff.Facilitates parent / guardian participation between parents / guardians and provider when scheduling patient intakes.Communication with the school personnel, CCHS system administrator and coworkers for schedule change, school closings, etc.Locates and retrieves students from their classrooms for all appointments.Participates in school and community activities to promote the SBHC programs.Travel between all schools the BH provider has an active caseload.Coordination of care between the medical, dental, and behavioral health staff.Regular, reliable attendance is a requirement of this job.Benefits
