Position Overview: Choptank Electric Cooperative is seeking a detail-oriented Cyber Analyst, with hands-on and practical technical experience to manage day-to-day cybersecurity tasks, ensuring the protection of organizational systems, networks, and data. This new role will play a critical part in enhancing cybersecurity measures, investigating alerts, and maintaining a secure IT/OT environment. The Cyber Analyst will report to the Sr. IT/OT Administrator and collaborate with various teams to implement security policies and best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Investigate and respond to security alerts from various corporate IT and OT cybersecurity systems.
- Assist with and conduct vulnerability scanning and remediation efforts across the enterprise.
- Assist in cybersecurity awareness training for employees.
- Support policy reviews, annual procedure updates, and policy enforcement.
- Perform monthly network maintenance tasks, including applying patches, off-hours configuration changes, and testing new settings/applications.
- Participate in and assist with design and architecture reviews for new and existing systems to ensure cybersecurity best practices and cyber-resilient designs are being implemented across the enterprise.
- Provide minimal Tier 2 cybersecurity help desk support.
- Assist with cybersecurity measures for Choptank Fiber.
Required Skills and Experience:
- 2-4 years of experience in working with cybersecurity tools such as Intrusion Detection and Prevention (IDS/IPS) systems, Security Information Event Management (SIEM) systems, Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) systems, vulnerability management systems such as Tenable and/or Rapid7.
- 2-4 years of experience in developing technical configurations and policies for tools such as IDS/IPS, SIEM, EDR, and vulnerability management tool.
- 2-4 years of experience and/or knowledge of relevant technical and engineering principals such as the Open Systems Interconnection Model (OSI), the Purdue Model, and standard industry practices in systems and network design and security.
- 1-3 years of experience participating in or authoring and developing Cybersecurity policies and procedures for an enterprise.
- 1-3 years of experience in participating and/or performing organizational risk-based assessments of systems and networks based on cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities and risks to the organization.
- 1-3 years of experience in working with stakeholders from end users up to Executive Leadership to help them understand the potential cybersecurity risks and impacts to the organization that people, processes, and technology present.
- 1-3 years of experience writing and developing executive level and/or technical briefings on cybersecurity incidents, risks, and threats the organization faces.
Desired Skills, Experience and Education
- Desired Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Networking or related STEM field. (Verified practical experience in cybersecurity engineering or operations are acceptable in the absence of a Bachelor's degree.)
- Desired Certifications: Security , SSCP, GIAC, CEH, and CISSP. (Verified practical experience in the lack of certifications is acceptable)

Work Schedule & Location:
- Full-time position (Monday - Friday, 8-hour shifts).
- Flexible hours: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM or 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM.
- Primarily on-site work, with remote work available for emergencies or upon request.
Travel Requirements:
- Occasional travel to offices in Chestertown, Cambridge, and Salisbury MD (1-2 days per month).
- May require up to 8 hours at remote office locations on designated days.
- Travel to industry events or out of town training is possible.
