Position Summary
The Specialist will be responsible for submitting critical documentation and requests to state and federal agencies to ensure regulatory compliance in support of oil and gas operations. This person will also be responsible for preparing APD Packages. Duties will include regulations, submitting documentation to agencies, regulatory reporting, site planning, stakeholder engagement, and data review. This position reports to the Regulatory Manager and is located in downtown Houston, TX. Hybrid work schedule is an option for remote work on Mondays and Fridays. Level and salary commensurate with experience.
Essential Job Functions
- Make certain all annual updates, renewals, and reports are submitted to state and local municipal entities
- Inform company location specific conditions of approval or workover requirements
- Interface with drilling, production, facilities, development, and planning personnel to identify site locations
- Interface with state and federal agencies to support routine field activities
- Submits required well documentation relative to completion reports, sundry notices, and plugging reports
- Support well operations, drilling, workover activities, and audit obligations
- Order and Track resource surveys as needed
- Collaborate in preparation of the drilling schedule
- Review, summarize, and provide internal guidance regarding permit conditions of approval
- Provide support and assistance to management and operations teams regarding permitting actions, project status, and potential challenges
- Keep company informed of any changes to permit requirements to ensure compliance
- Other duties as required

Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- 1 year of relevant oil & gas experience
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel
- Strong analytical and research skills
- Willing to travel
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and fluid environment; flexible with the demands of a growing company
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer, stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions, strength to lift and carry files weighing up to 10 pounds; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone

Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- 5 years of relevant oil & gas experience
- Previous experience in compliance or permitting specialist role
- Experience with North Star and AFMSS
- Experience with North Dakota and Montana Regulatory Agencies
- Familiarity with ArcGIS and Google Earth
- Strong organization and problem-solving skills as well as the ability to work independently with changing priorities
