GENERAL SUMMARY
This position will focus on securing new business and maintaining current business with poultry accounts. Products supported include all poultry products within the Chr. Hansen’s Animal Health portfolio.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (* = Essential Functions)
1. * Responsible for developing new business with key poultry accounts.
2. * Implement the US AH&N Business Unit strategies as it relates to Chr. Hansen’s Poultry portfolio.
3. * Maintain in-depth high level contacts with key end users and influencers, keeping them informed of price trends, new products and applications.
4. Investigate customer complaints and solve routine industry problems on site. This includes, but is not limited to, new product applications, marketing efforts, new facilities, price trends, and key industry personnel.
5. Meet or exceed sales budget targets on a year-to-year basis.
6. Provides timely sales and product forecasts, reports and information as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
1. Possess good negotiation and follow-up skills.
2. Ability to develop, plan, and implement short and long range goals.
3. Must have technical skills to know the right questions to ask of customers.
4. Must be a self-starter with drive and initiative and work with little supervision.
5. Must have a passion for the food industry.
6. Provides excellent level of customer service to both internal and external customers.
7. Possess a working knowledge in Microsoft Office programs.
8. Ability to travel up to 40% of working time.
9. These characteristics are normally acquired through a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, food technology or chemistry preferred, and a minimum of five to seven years of sales experience in the feed industry and/or feed additive industry with focus on swine and/or poultry.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Working environment is a home office setting about 20% of time and car/air travel about 80% of time (this could vary depending on territory). This position requires a valid driver’s license and good driving record. The employee must be able to meet the travel requirements of the job.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk, hear, use hands to finger, handle or touch objects, keyboard and occasionally lift up to 10 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
