General Summary
This position works under general direction and is primarily responsible for responding to internal and external inquiries related to the company’s products and the regulations governing them.

Principal Duties And Responsibilities (* = Essential Functions)
    • Researches and prepares timely and accurate responses to customer inquiries regarding the domestic and international regulatory status of products, specification, allergen and certifications.
    • Assists in the operation of systems and procedures to ensure timely and accurate data collection, maintenance and delivery of consistent regulatory information throughout the organization.
    • Communicates with government agencies (FDA, CBP, USDA, CFIA) on a regular basis regarding regulatory compliance of our products and processes.
    • Monitors regulatory changes affecting company products and communicates to appropriate inter-company stakeholders.
    • Supports the business unit division regarding securing registrations, certifications and regulatory dossiers for internal use and submission to government and 3rd party entities.
    • Supports the sales team with assisting customers on ingredient regulation and labeling requirements.
    • Support to 3rd party certifying body requests and audits (NGVP, OMRI, etc.)

    • Ability to conduct risk assessments and clearly communicate risk to Regulatory Affairs Manager, and the business units as needed.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to read, write and speak English.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both in oral and written form.
  • Possess a basic understanding of international food law and regulations with focus on the Americas.
  • Must be a self-starter and be able to multi-task.
  • Possess an inquisitive mind and the ability to redirect or reword inquiries to various agencies to attain the required information.
  • Ability to assess broad impact of decisions, and where necessary conduct formal and informal impact assessments in collaboration with the Business Units and with the guidance of Regulatory Affairs Manager.
  • Ability to use ERP system (i.e. SAP) to access raw material information, formulas and/or processes.
  • Possess a working knowledge in Microsoft Office programs.
  • These characteristics are normally acquired through a Bachelor’s degree in a scientific or technical area with one to three years regulatory experience.
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.

Working Conditions
Working environment is generally favorable and in an office setting. Lighting, temperature and noise levels are adequate.

Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk, hear, use hands to finger, handle or touch objects, keyboard and occasionally lift up to 10 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
