What are the responsibilities and job description for the Camp Nurse position at Christ Central Camp?
Description:
Maintain adequate first aid supplies appropriate for camp needs.- Check campers in at registration; go over health form with parents.
- Maintain database of health forms in hard copy and digital formats. Refer to them as needed.
- Document and organize all medications supplied by parents/guardians.
- Dispense medications to campers/ staff according to prescription or parent directions.
- Contact parents before giving any medications not specifically approved on health form.
- Keep written record of all medications dispensed and all treatments provided.
- Check out first aid kits for groups going on hikes. Replenish used supplies when kits are returned.
- Follow Standing Orders for treatment of sickness or injury.
- Return unused medications to parents at the conclusion of camp.
- Actively participate in staff meetings.
Must hold basic Catholic Christian values and live a lifestyle reflecting those values.- Must recognize position as role model and refrain from actions/habits which diminish that role (i.e. drinking, smoking, illegal drug use, foul language, etc.).
- Must understand and like young people and enjoy the outdoors.
- Must be at least 21years of age.
- Licensed as EMT, LVN, or RN with the state of Texas; current CPR and First-Aid certified.
- Must successfully complete Diocesan Camp Staff Training.
