Finance and Payroll Senior Associate
Overview
This role performs business management and financial functions for Christ Covenant church, including payroll and finding resourceful solutions leveraging technology and team interactions, that support financial operations. This role supports long and short-term planning, accountability, accurate reporting, and fiscal responsibility and will report to our Executive Director of Operations. Below are expectations for which the employee in this role will be responsible and accountable during each of the annual performance review cycles.
Essential Job Functions
- Payroll
- Oversee the preparation and processing of semi-monthly payrolls and annual compensation payments
- Ensure payroll accuracy, including salary, bonuses, deductions, and benefits
- Manage and resolve any discrepancies or issues related to payroll
- Accounting
- Protect assets of the church by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls
- Assist with the financial operations and implementation of policies and procedures under the supervision of the Executive Director of Operations and Finance Committee
- Support the maintenance of and ensure the accuracy of the general ledger
- Work with the Executive Director of Operations, Executive Pastor and ministry leaders to assist in the preparation of the annual church budgets
- Oversee weekly deposits of church receipts
- Manage bank accounts by reviewing statements and balance sheets to ensure accurate tracking and reporting
- Support all systems for receipts and expenses, ensuring that employees are following proper procedures and deadlines
- Assist with managing the external audit process and relationship, including necessary review, adjustments in accordance with GAAP and reporting
- Reporting
- Attend and participate in bi-monthly Finance Committee Meetings
- Support the church’s Operations staff and external accounting vendor to produce accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Help develop financial reports as needed
- Assist with the preparation of short and long-term financial forecasts of financial performance for management use
- Support the process for providing monthly budget vs actual financial reports for staff as required to ensure that expenses and budget management remain on track
- Help maintain confidential donor contribution records and send out donor statements on a semi-annual basis
General
- Hold check-writing authority on behalf of the church
- Perform other duties as assigned

Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field; CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) certification is a plus
- At least 5 years of related work experience
- Character congruent with biblical requirements
Technical Skills
Candidates should demonstrate proficiency with payroll software (Rippling Payroll is the current system), accounting software (Sage Intacct is the current system), budgeting and financial analysis software (Martus is the current system), donor software (Overflow is the current system), Google Suite, Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel).
