General Classroom Associates / Para-educators

The Classroom Associate/Paraeducator supports teachers in the educational setting by assisting with instructional activities, managing classroom behavior, and providing individualized attention to students. This role is essential in fostering a positive learning environment and ensuring that all students achieve their academic and social goals.

Key Responsibilities:

• Instructional Support:
• Assist teachers in the delivery of lesson plans and instructional materials.
• Provide one-on-one or small group tutoring to students, reinforcing concepts taught in class.
• Classroom Management:
• Support the teacher in maintaining a positive classroom environment conducive to learning.
• Monitor student behavior and implement strategies to promote positive behavior.
• Assist with classroom organization and cleanliness.
• Student Assistance:
• Assist students and ensure their safety and well-being.
• Encourage students’ independence and self-advocacy skills.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred).
• Experience working with children, especially in an educational setting.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and staff.
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in supporting student learning.

Working Conditions:

• This position typically requires working in a classroom environment, with occasional outdoor activities. The role may involve standing for long periods and lifting or moving educational materials.
