Our RN Supervisors work (3) 12 hour shifts/week and (1) weekend/month

The RN Supervisor supports the Director of Nursing with the delivery of efficient and effective nursing care while achieving positive clinical outcomes, and patient/family and employee satisfaction.
Position Highlights
- Lead, guide and direct the clinical operations of the nursing units on assigned shift including ensuring compliance with policies and procedures, practice standards and regulations.
- Facilitate the implementation of the care delivery model and processes, mentoring staff, along with coordination and communication with other departments.
- Collaborate with the Director of Nursing to maintain adequate nursing staff to provide safe, 24/7 nursing care with an emphasis on limiting use of overtime and agency personnel.

Responsibilities Include, but are not limited to the following:
- Ensures that comprehensive, quality care is being provided for the residents by performing the following duties:
- Receives report at the start of the shift and gives a final report before going off duty.
- Makes general rounds to observe and evaluate residents physical and emotional condition and reports any significant physical, emotional or behavioral changes to the physician.
- Receives, documents and implements physicians orders.
- Informs family, power of attorney, or responsible party of any significant information or changes in resident condition.
- Accompanies physician on rounds and assists with exams, assessments and other procedures. Ensures that chart documentation by the physician is updated and in compliance with long-term are regulations.
- Supervises meals served to residents to ensure that the residents are receiving prescribed diets and adequate fluid intake, assesses residents appetites and monitors those with special needs. Notes placement and positioning of resident at meals and contacts the Director of Dietary Services regarding diets and food service.
- Obtains lab samples ordered by the physician, reviews lab reports, informs the physician of any abnormal findings or state order test results and documents information in nurses notes.
- Assists staff with direct care of residents including changing, feeding, repositioning and lifting using appropriate safety procedures and techniques.
- Ensures that medications and treatments are being dispensed properly.
- Ensures compliance with Department of Labor, Department of Public Welfare, Department of Health, OSHA, OBRA and other relevant regulations.
- Schedules a minimum of two hours daily to be on the unit providing direct supervision of staff as follows:
- Demonstrates, monitors and maintains the proper use of all safety, health and medical procedures including those involved with lifting and repositioning residents.
- Completes a thorough investigation and assures that all appropriate forms are completed thoroughly and accurately when there is an employee injury.
- Monitors employee assignments, breaks, quality of work, quantity of work and reassigns staff in an appropriate, fair and consistent manner. Ensures that optimum resident care is being provided in a safe effective manner and in accordance with regulations, policies and procedures.
- Completes objective and accurate staff performance appraisals and progress reports by due dates. Seeks input from other supervisory personnel when appropriate and emphasizes objectives that are to be met to improve performance.
- Plans and schedules staff meetings as needed to establish goals regarding the quality of care provided while encouraging staff participation to determine solutions to problems or concerns.
- Meets individually with LPNs and other relevant personnel to establish goals regarding the quality of care being provided.
- Provides ongoing opportunities for open, two-way, direct communication with all staff.
- Provides for the comprehensive orientation and training of newly-hired personnel. Assures that trainees are treated appropriately by all staff.
- Keeps staff informed of pertinent policies and procedures.
- Ensures that staff understand and use proper techniques when operating equipment and devices
- Completes the following record keeping, monitoring and reviewing responsibilities
- Assesses current drug reviews as scheduled, makes appropriate recommendations to physician and ensures that the physician writes progress notes and specifies level of care.
- Reviews medication records for completeness, accuracy and adherence to stop order policies.
- Reviews resident charts to ensure accurate, thorough documentation and ensures that the orders have been properly signed.
- Reviews, monitors and evaluates charting by LPNs to ensure thoroughness and accuracy.
- Attends all in-service training sessions as required.
- Adheres to all Christ the King Manor policies, procedures and regulations. Practices, promotes and maintains privacy, safety and confidentiality regarding all resident and employee information.
Requirements
- Graduate of an approved course in Nursing with a current license to practice nursing in Pennsylvania. Previous experience in LTC in an extended care facility preferred.
- Graduate of an approved course as a Register Nurse with a current license in Pennsylvania.
- Must obtain Pre-Hire Physical
- Must obtain 2 step TB
