Position Overview. Christchurch School seeks a full-time Director of Mental Health and Performance. This position oversees all aspects of mental health at Christchurch School and works collaboratively with other professionals related to student wellness. Responsibilities
Position Overview. Christchurch School seeks a full-time Director of Mental Health and Performance. This position oversees all aspects of mental health at Christchurch School and works collaboratively with other professionals related to student wellness. Those responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- build on our culture of performance based coaching;
- continue to de-stigmatize mental health among a teenage population;
- develop rapport with high school aged students easily;
- understand the student population of Christchurch School and support the admission team in assessing and attracting prospective students
- collaborate on developing programming with other wellness professionals at the school and our community life team;
- complete clinical assessments and provide short term individual counseling as needed;
- work with community life team when leaves of absences related to mental wellness may be appropriate;
- partner with athletic and performing arts programs to enhance mental wellness and performance through mental performance workshops focusing on areas of goal setting, visualization, concentration, relaxation, and more
- coordinate counseling services with referral counselors;
- maintain strict professionalism and confidentiality;
- is available to respond to students' emotional and mental health crises, provide crisis intervention, during the school day and when on call;
- serves as counselor-on-call.

Required
- Master's degree in a mental health discipline (e.g. psychology, counseling, or social work).
- Clear and effective oral and written communication skills
- Proficiency in organizing work, maintaining records, managing time, attention to detail, follow through, and setting priorities
- Maintaining confidentiality with students, parents, employees with sensitivity and understanding
- Maintains proper professional boundaries
- Candidates should be realistic and excited about teaching in a boarding school and in working with students with a wide range of academic abilities
- Ability to carry out and obtain clear and proper professional boundaries
- Experience and training in sports psychology
- Licensure as a clinician (LPC, LMHC, CSW, or equivalent)
- Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC) or posses the necessary schooling to pursue CMPC certification
- Experience working with a wide variety of teenagers, preferably in a school setting
- Ability to be mobile around campus and buildings
- Ability to work at a desk and computer screen for extended periods
- Some travel required (mainly for athletic competitions)
