Compensation & Benefits: Christchurch School offers a competitive compensation package for this full-time position with benefits to include health plan options, retirement benefits, tuition remission for dependents, professional development, networking opportunities, and potentially on-campus housing.
Christchurch School is a co-ed Episcopal boarding and day school serving grades 9—12. Founded in 1921, Christchurch is located on a 125-acre waterfront campus on the Rappahannock River in eastern Virginia’s tidewater region. The school’s Mission is to inspire and guide each student's pursuit of personal excellence in academics and character so they are prepared for meaningful lives as engaged citizens and community leaders.
Christchurch seeks a Spanish teacher for the 2025-2026 school year. This is an opportunity for a Spanish educator to join a department that has developed a program of study that meets students where they are, makes learning Spanish about participating in the world around them, and creates avenues for students to study Spanish for as many years as possible.
Christchurch School fosters a student-centered approach to pedagogical practices, valuing the craft of teaching and embracing the boarding school model for meaningful education of the whole child. Equally, employees at CCS are expected to foster an inclusive workplace and contribute to a community built on equitable policies and procedures. Teachers at CCS also contribute to the school by leading an advisory of 7-10 students, being a part of a duty team one evening per week and 6-7 weekends per year, and participating in two seasons of co-curriculars (particular areas of need are boy's and girl's soccer, boy's lacrosse, women’s volleyball, sailing, and football).
Please submit an electronic resume and a letter of interest to teach@christchurchschool.org. You can also go https://www.christchurchschool.org/at-a-glance/employment for more details about the position and working at Christchurch School. Candidates will be contacted within two weeks of receiving application materials if we are interested in setting up an initial phone interview.
Studies have shown that women, people of color, and those just beginning in education are less likely to apply for jobs unless they believe they meet every one of the qualifications as described in a job description. We are most interested in finding the best candidate for the job, and that candidate may be one who comes from a less traditional background or who is excited about gaining the experience described in the listing. We believe deeply in a boarding school model of education and are interested in people who find the idea of teaching young people in all capacities of their lives compelling. We would encourage you to apply, even if you don’t believe you meet every one of our qualifications as described.
Qualifications
Conditional Offers: An offer of employment for this position is contingent upon the applicant’s right to work in the United States, authorization for and completion of successful background checks as may be requested by the school or required by law.
