Christel House Schools is now accepting applications for a Middle School/High School Athletic Director. Christel House Schools is a growing network of high performing charter schools dedicated to serving low-income, urban students in Indianapolis.
FLSA: Full-Time; Non-Exempt
Start Date: June 2nd, 2025 (Tentative)
REPORTS TO: Principal
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Implement, enforce, and assess the athletic department rules, and IHSAA policies using best practices to evaluate those policies annually.
- Coordinate all sporting events of the programs, including securing and training volunteers, hiring officials, and other related personnel for the entire Christel House Network of Schools.
- Creates, oversees, and implements the budget of the Christel House Athletic Department.
- Coordinate all athletic activities with other school activities and secure transportation for all events.
- Effective communication with all sponsors, and continue to work on new sponsorships.
- Responsible for communication to coaches, parents, students, student-athletes, faculty, etc. in regard to athletic information
- Oversees the scheduling of practices and games for every team in the network (both Middle Schools & High School)
- Organize and arrange media day for all teams.
- Oversees the inventory of athletic equipment and maintains equipment used in the programs, such as cleaning, repairing, distributing, and collecting all uniforms at the end of the season. This includes the ordering and managing of replacement uniforms.
- Organize and supervise the entry door, parking, seating, and crowd control at home contests to ensure safety and sportsmanship.
- Manages and maintains the athletic website and social media platforms for the Athletic Department.
- Work with head coaches to organize end-of-the-season sports banquets.
- Orders necessary awards for banquets and keeps track of records/statistics.
- Makes all arrangements for the use of non-school athletic facilities and fields.
- Oversees and approves the eligibility of all student-athletes, including physical examinations and transfer students' required paperwork.
- Supervises and participates in the preparation of facilities for all home contests.
- Evaluates current coaching staff and makes recommendations for improvements or changes.
- Oversees the hiring of all coaches.
- Acquires new knowledge of the profession by attending clinics/state conventions.
- Works with the Building Facility Manager to ensure all Athletic Facilities are operable and up-to-standard
- Oversees the Assistant Athletic Director and Athletic Trainer/Administrator Assistant
- Assists the Principal with any additional assigned duties.
OTHER FUNCTIONS:
- Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students all students.
- Attend meetings and in-service presentations for the purpose of acquiring and/or conveying information relative to job functions.
- Occasionally cover classes in the absence of a regular classroom teacher.
- Other duties assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field
- Previous Athletic Administration/Coaching experience preferred
- National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (NIAAA) Certification preferred
- Ability and willingness to work collaboratively; maintaining cooperative and effective working relationships.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Competency in using technology
- Ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis.
- An agreement with the mission statement and goals of Christel House Schools.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to reach with hands and arms.
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
