Christel House Indianapolis is accepting applications for a Part-Time Accounts Payable Specialist. Christel House is a growing network of high performing charter schools dedicated to serving urban students in Indianapolis.
JOB SUMMARY:
This position provides cash disbursement and purchasing support to the Christel House Indianapolis Network of schools. This position provides organized & quick processing of financial transactions while ensuring compliance with policies and funding guidelines. This position is Part-Time averaging 20 - 25 hours per week with the majority of the hours needing to be completed during normal business operations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Prepare invoices for payment, ensures review for appropriate documentation, approval and allocation of expenses to respective funding sources.
- Serve as point of contact for vendor inquiries.
- Maintain accounts payable reports, spreadsheets and files.
- Assist in month-end close process.
- Reconcile transactions related to credit card program.
- Assist with tracking and allocation of costs to respective grants, funds, and entities.
- Prepare purchase orders, including review for appropriate documentation and approval.
- Facilitate credit card/purchasing card program.
- Frequent interaction with schools on accounts payable and purchasing related matters.
OTHER FUNCTIONS:
- Pull reports or files as needed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective operations of the schools.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 1-3 years business, accounting or accounts payable experience.
- Familiarity with the operations of an educational institution or non-profit organization preferred.
- Associate’s degree in accounting, business, or finance, preferred but not required.
- Self-starter, attention to detail, able to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
- An agreement with the mission statement and goals of Christel House Schools
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to sit for long periods of time
- Ability to look at a computer for long periods of time
- Ability to reach with hands and arms
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
