Ministry Responsibilities
The Associate Pastor of Small Groups partners with the Small Groups staff in leading a dynamic small groups ministry. This position will champion the married and married with children demographic with potential for other demographic areas depending upon experience and calling. The position will ensure that the small group values of seen, safe, shape, and send are characterized within this demographic. This position also entails other responsibilities as defined below.
Essential Duties
Recruiting
- Recruit, train, and lead small group leaders and ministry partners
- Launch new small groups regularly through assimilation events
Developing
- Champion the married/married with children (M/MwC) and other demographics as assigned based upon calling and competency
- Provide ongoing ministry leadership development for volunteer teams
- Network with existing leaders via one-to-one or group contacts
- Visit groups regularly for availability, observation, and encouragement
- Share in teaching and training via regular training events and other opportunities
- Respond to ongoing needs of group leaders and members
Coaching
- Partner with Pastor of Small Groups in leading the coaching initiative
- Develop “leaders of leaders” in all ministry areas
Other Pastoral Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Small Group Administrative Assistant to maintain small group metrics in the church management system
- Partner in vision casting in annual all-church resource deployment
- Assist Small Group Administrative Assistant with communications and social media promotions
- Participate in the Pastor-on-Call, care appointments, and hospital visit rotations, and funerals, and weddings as necessary
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated knowledge within pastoral care
- Strong administration and leadership skills
- Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Ability to work within a team dynamic
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop volunteers
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, and Publisher) and Adobe products
