Automotive Technician - Lives Under Construction Boys Ranch
Lives Under Construction (LUC) Boys Ranch is a residential treatment program for at-risk boys between the ages of 7 and 18. The program is designed to enable boys to become productive, law-abiding, respectful young men through a balanced Christ-centered program of academics, vocational training, and good old-fashioned hard work. Because the boys that we work with come from a variety of backgrounds, LUC staff members need to be servant-minded, consistent in enforcing the program through structure and discipline, calm and kind during stressful situations, committed to instilling habits that lead to later success, and dedicated to seeing projects through to completion.
Responsibilities
• Build and assemble machines or mechanical components according to requirements.
• Conduct extensive diagnostic procedures to determine the sources of problems and provide accurate repairs for maximum reliability.
• Perform routine automotive maintenance tasks, including oil changes, tire rotations, transmission flushes, air conditioner re-charges, front-end alignments, battery installations and headlight/taillight installations.
• Conduct automotive work on brakes, transmission, exchanges, and HVAC repair.
• Maintain a working knowledge of current industry best practices in automotive repair.
• Inspect vehicles according to the state's requirements for emissions and safety.
• Maintain legible and accurate records of automotive maintenance and repairs.
• Clean and maintain the work environment to ensure equipment longevity and workplace safety.
• Teach and work with strong-willed boys to include training in safety & basic auto maintenance and repair.
• May assist with boys in other areas such as work, consequences, dorm supervision.
Requirements
• Willing and able to work with strong-willed boys
• Be at least 23 years of age
• Have a high school diploma or GED
• Missouri Vehicle Safety Inspection License preferred
• ASE Master Technician certification preferred
• Capable of teaching safety practices and work skills
• Ability to drive and back trailers and trucks
• Lift and carry 50 lbs.
• Stand for long periods of time
• Hold and manipulate all necessary hand tools and shop equipment typically found in automotive diagnostic and repair
Pay will depend upon experience
