Teacher - Lives Under Construction Boys RanchLives Under Construction (LUC) Boys Ranch is a residential treatment program for at-risk boys between the ages of 7 and 18. The program is designed to enable boys to become productive, law abiding, respectful young men through a balanced Christ-centered program of academics, vocational training, and good old-fashioned hard work. Because the boys that LUC work with come from a variety of backgrounds, LUC staff members need to be servant-minded, consistent in enforcing the program through structure and discipline, calm and kind during stressful situations, committed to instilling habits that lead to later success, and dedicated to seeing projects through to completion.
LUC is searching for a responsible person who enjoys working with young people. This person should be able to lead, support, and motivate strong-willed boys. The teacher will plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to reach the academic potential. The teacher should demonstrate consistency, flexibility, and teamwork.
Responsibilities
• Lesson planning, testing, and grading
• Teach lessons
• Maintain structure and enforce discipline
• Assessments as needed
• Implement boys’ IEPs
Requirements
• Willing and able to work with strong-willed boys
• Have a bachelor’s degree (in education preferred). Experience may be substituted.
• Substitute certification or eligible in near future. Certification by the Missouri State
Dept. of Elementary and Secondary Education is preferred
• Capable of teaching upper levels of math, English, science, and history
• Experience preferred
• Maintain structure and discipline
• Work a minimum of 45 hours per week
