The goal is to hire a Youth / Connection Pastor with the vision and skillset to grow Newlife’s Youth Ministry and foster an environment of connectedness and care with the church families, as well as a vision for outreach within the Longview area. This individual will also be responsible for connection with and the growth of the volunteer pool as described below.
This individual will agree with the basic tenants of the Christian Faith, including –
- Personal relationship with Jesus Christ
- Baptism as an act of Obedience and Public Declaration of one’s faith
- The importance of tithing as an offering to God
- Accountability within the church body
- Mentorship, both of self and others
Duties:
Preaching and Teaching:
Deliver sermons on a regular basis for the youth group and worship services, lead Bible studies/life groups, and develop leadership alongside the lead pastor. One may, on occasion, be asked to deliver sermons to the congregation when asked.
Connections:
Develop vital connections within the local church, leading people into student, life group, discipleship ministries; connecting volunteers with ministry areas; connecting the local church with community ministry opportunities.
Ministry Leadership / Mentor:
Oversee specific ministry areas like youth ministry, small groups, volunteer and outreach programs, depending on church needs.
Volunteer Development:
Recruit, train, and equip volunteers to effectively connect with and serve within the designated ministries.
Church and Community Engagement:
Represent the church in community events, build relationships with local organizations, and develop outreach initiatives.
Administrative Tasks:
Contribute to staff meetings, participate in church leadership discussions, and manage administrative duties related to assigned ministry areas.
Minister alongside the Lead Pastor in achieving the mission and vision of Newlife Church in all the various ways needed to shepherd the local church.
Reporting Relationship: The Youth / Connection Pastor directly reports to the Lead Pastor; is accountable to the Senior Leadership Team and aligns their work with the church's overall vision and direction.
