Position Summary
The Custodian maintains the cleanliness and orderliness of CCHC facilities, ensuring a safe and tidy environment for patients, clients, and visitors, to include basic cleaning of all common areas, parking facilities, offices and conference rooms, restrooms, entrances, elevators, walkways, windows, furniture, fixtures, stairs, chairs, tables, telephones, drinking fountains, trash receptacles, dusting, polishing, and other assigned items/areas.

The Custodian maintains the cleanliness and orderliness of CCHC facilities, ensuring a safe and tidy environment for patients, clients, and visitors, to include basic cleaning of all common areas, parking facilities, offices and conference rooms, restrooms, entrances, elevators, walkways, windows, furniture, fixtures, stairs, chairs, tables, telephones, drinking fountains, trash receptacles, dusting, polishing, and other assigned items/areas.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; degree from a vocational school will be a plus.
- Valid Driver’s license required.
- Minimum of 2 years of jobs experience preferred.
- Basic computer knowledge (Microsoft).
- Able to complete training modules as assigned.
- Must be able to work autonomously and a self-starter with excellent communication and interpersonal skills; must be professional and positive.
- Although this position will have set hours; must be willing to work early, stay late and work weekends as needed.
- Prolonged periods standing and walking.
- Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, or crawl into awkward spaces, push and pull items and equipment, and push and pull things from high places.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
- Supports quality patient care services by maintaining a clean, sanitary, safe and orderly environment for health care providers as well as patients and visitors of all ages and developmental levels.
- Inspect facilities periodically to determine problems and necessary maintenance.
- Maintain and restock janitorial carts with necessary cleaning tools and agents.
- Utilize the appropriate equipment to maintain the cleanliness of patient care areas (Exam rooms, workup rooms, patient waiting areas), to include sweeping, mopping, wiping down surfaces (exam tables, chairs, patient check in stations), and disinfecting equipment and other frequently utilized surfaces and areas utilized for patient care.
- Utilize the appropriate equipment to maintain the cleanliness of employee offices and employee common areas, to include sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors, wiping down surfaces such as furniture, cabinets, and other equipment), and disinfecting as needed.
- Wipe down workstations and other frequently utilized surfaces and areas utilized by employees (break rooms, bathrooms, and conference rooms).
- Utilize the appropriate equipment to maintain the cleanliness of the parking facilities and outdoor areas and walkways, to include clearing trash and debris throughout the day.
- Complete exterior work (landscaping, salt/shovel walkways, cleaning entrances/exits of the building).
- Empty trash receptacles throughout the facility as needed during the day, to include offices, conference rooms, bathrooms, bathroom stalls and other areas where trash is kept (shredder boxes).
- Wiping down soiled areas throughout the facilities to include walls, floors, baseboards, bathroom sinks and stalls, garbage cans, windows, and mirrors.
- Removing dust build up from fixtures, furniture, walls, floors and other areas where dust is likely to accumulate.
- Cleans and sanitizes all patient/employee bathroom surfaces and objects including, but not limited to, furniture, floors, baseboards, cabinets, equipment, and bathroom fixtures.
- Cleans and sanitizes employee breakroom surfaces and objects including, but not limited to, furniture, floors, cabinets, equipment (microwave, refrigerator), and sink fixtures.
- Regularly cleans and sanitizes throughout the day, all high touch surfaces, including door handles, light switches, countertops, common workstations (printer areas), and water fountains.
- Clean all the interior and exterior windows of the building.
- Identifies and reports maintenance requests to appropriate personnel.
- Assist maintenance team in on/offsite projects.
- Perform unplanned/unscheduled cleaning functions in response to spills, accidents, unexpected debris, etc.
- Stocks equipment and supplies in patient rooms and replenish items as needed.
- Demonstrates behavior consistent with the operating principles of CCHC and functions as a contributing member of the operations team which meets patient needs through effective communication and commitment to quality outcomes.
