Job Summary/Overview:
The Grant Writer supports the mission of Christian Community Health Center by ensuring the planning and implementation of comprehensive and coordinated Development/Fundraising strategy focused on the establishment of a diversified funding base that includes support from government agencies, foundations, corporations, major donors, individual donors and churches.
Minimal Qualifications, Experience & Skills:
- BA or BS degree in related field required; Master’s preferred.
- Three to five years of progressively responsible grant writing, development, or fundraising experience gained in a non-profit health care, social service or related environment.
- A proven history of grant writing or fundraising success, including experience successfully procuring and executing federal, state , city, foundation and corporate grants.
- Demonstrated success in building and developing relationships with a broad range of constituencies.
- A strong working knowledge of the philanthropic community, and maintaining relationships with funders.
- Demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to the organization's mission and core values. Knowledge of community health centers are considered a plus.

- Strong computer skills and familiarity with donor and funder database systems.
Responsibilities:
- Works closely with key staff to identify, assess and pursue federal, state, foundation and corporate grant funding opportunities.
- Completes prospect and grant related research on best practices, program models matching CCHC programs to prospective expansion or growth opportunities.
- Development, and writing of grant proposals for electronic or paper submission to government agencies, foundations and corporations.
- Reviews RFP’s and grant opportunities submitted by program managers and submits monthly grant opportunity calendar with summaries to executive team for review and directional approval.
- Completes annual and quarterly reports for submission in EHB, ESNAPS, SAMS, etc.
- Ensures compliance with all grant reporting timelines and deadlines and periodically updates electronic database systems.
- Facilitates and participates in funder site visits and works with other departments as necessary in order to represent programs accurately to the funder/donor community
- Serves as liaison with various foundation officers, grants/project managers and donors.
- Works closely with the Marketing efforts to establish and achieve fundraising and awareness goals. Collaborates with the team in the planning and production of communication materials and information.
- Maintains current donation database and completes timely acknowledgment of grant letters, works with finance to issue accurate thank you letters and year end contribution notices.
- Provides monthly reports to the COO on the progress of development/ fundraising goals, objectives and activities.
- As an integral member of the team, participates in agency-wide strategic planning, continually advancing the role and importance of philanthropy within the organizational culture.
- Recommends agency policies regarding Development/Fundraising/Marketing.
- Maintains current knowledge in the field of Development, including emerging trends.
- Carries out additional responsibilities as delegated by the COO.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Assist in the development and execution of the organization strategic plan.
- Identify strategies to diversify the agency’s revenue growth.
