JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary/Objective
The objective of this position is responsible for working directly with the Associate Headmaster to provide medical care and oversight for the students of Christian Heritage Academy. This position must agree with and support the Staff Member’s Covenant Statement of Marriage and Sexuality and agree with/help fulfill CHA’s Mission Statement.
Essential Functions (Responsibilities and Tasks)

- Contribute to the school system's effectiveness by developing, implementing, and evaluating the school's health plan and the plan of care for individual students
- Maintain certification in CPR and vision, hearing, and spinal screening
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional organizations. Obtain CEUs as required by licensure requirements
- Maintain confidentiality of health records of each student
- Adhere to all health and OSHA regulations pertaining to the distribution of all prescription and non-prescription medication and communicate any health concerns to parent(s) and/or school personnel. Administers medications according to established policies/procedures
- Serve as a resource for health curriculum/health instruction and provides ongoing health counseling
- Educate the faculty and staff as needed on health-related topics (CPR, First Aid, Blood Borne Pathogens, etc.)
- Plan and implement school health management protocols for children with special health needs and communicate plan to faculty and staff
- Provide crisis intervention for acute illness, injury, and emotional disturbances. Notifies parent(s) of accident or illness and secures medical care for students in emergency cases (if the parent(s) or emergency contact cannot be reached)
- Assist in the control of communicable diseases through early detection, surveillance, and reporting with follow-up of communicable diseases
- Review and evaluate immunization records for compliance with local, state, and national requirements
- Notify parents of students who are in immunization compliance
- Initiate referrals to parent(s), school personnel, and community health resources
- Schedule health wellness opportunities for employees
- Serve as a liaison between the school and the health community
- Establish and implement effective procedures for mandatory screening programs. Screen for health factors impacting education, including vision, hearing, scoliosis, etc.
- Provide direct care utilizing professional assessment skills, the nursing process, and establishing health protocols
- Serve as a health advocate for students
- Compile and maintain computerized reports, records, and documents required including clinic records and accurate, updated health records on students in Magnus Health
- Order equipment and supplies needed to maintain clinic inventory
- Attend staff meetings, committee meetings, and all other meetings that are required.
- Attend Professional Development training and devotions throughout the year

Supervisor Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopies, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Performance Standards
Completing tasks well and in a timely manner (before or at the due date) while representing Christian Heritage Academy in a way that is glorifying to Christ.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time, 35-hour-a-week, 10-month position. The days and hours of work are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with days off according to leave and the school calendar from August to May. Any summer days required to work will be paid by the hour.

No travel is expected for this position.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
The school is currently a multi-level facility, which requires this position to navigate flights of stairs regularly to meet responsibilities as it relates to the school.
Talking - must be able to express ideas and speak clearly and orally in person or over the phone to parents, students and/or other employees.
Hearing – ability to perceive sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction and to receive detailed information through oral communication.
Close visual acuity required for viewing a computer monitor, preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing and reading.
Standing, walking and sitting for extended periods of time, moving about on foot for lecturing and monitoring students in the classroom, as well as throughout the building.
Regularly sitting at the computer requiring dexterity of hands and fingers.
Occasional lifting of at least 25 pounds.
Environment is primarily indoors in an office or classroom environment.
On occasion, must be able to work longer hours than a typical day for events such as back to school dinner, parent-teacher conferences, meetings/functions in the evening.
Required Education
Graduate of an accredited professional nursing program
Preferred Education and Experience
Three years of experience working as an LPN or RN
BSN or equivalent
Experience in pediatric nursing/adolescent care or school health
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
Current valid LPN or RN license from the Oklahoma Board of Nurse Examiners to practice professional nursing in the state of Oklahoma in good standing.
AHA BLS CPR/AED Certification or equivalent certification
