Position Summary
You will be the key figure in leading our nursing team as the Director of Nursing (DON). Your role will encompass overseeing the nursing services, developing policies based on regulations, and ensuring the delivery of top-notch care.
- Develop a thorough understanding of federal and state laws and regulations. Translate complex legalese into actionable nursing policies.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest senior care services and share your knowledge with the nursing team to ensure they remain current.
- Represent the organization at meetings and committees, showcasing expertise and leadership skills.
- Provide guidance and support to colleagues, offering sage advice when needed.
- Assemble and nurture a team of skilled nursing professionals by recruiting, interviewing, and managing staff.
- Maintain a safe environment by identifying incidents and accidents, implementing corrective actions, and communicating effectively with relevant parties.
- Collaborate in the development of the annual nursing budget and optimize expense management throughout the year.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of new residents and transfers, providing personalized attention and precision.
- Ensure timely procurement of necessary supplies and equipment to maintain efficient operations.
- Be prepared to adapt to changing situations and take on additional responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications & Experience
- Active Registered Nurse License in good standing in the state of Colorado.
- Advanced education or training is desirable.
- Three years of experience in Long Term Care Community settings.
- Three years of experience in Long Term Care Nursing management, preferably as a Director of Nursing.
- Familiarity with skilled nursing community operation state and federal laws and regulations is preferred.
- Proficiency in computer word processing and database management.
- Excellent written and spoken English language skills.
- Strong customer service skills are essential.
Working Conditions / Physical Requirements
- The role requires light physical effort, involving occasional lifting of objects up to 20 pounds and frequent handling of items up to 10 pounds.
- There may be exposure to chemicals, bloodborne pathogens, and other communicable diseases.
- Regular sitting, standing, bending, and movement during working hours.
- Frequent interruptions and interactions with residents, family members, and visitors.
