GENERAL SUMMARY:
The STNA Development Coach recruits STNAs and acts as their main contact person throughout the training process and beyond. The STNA Development coach will develop close relationships with nursing management and STNA’s by working alongside team members and discovering what type of education is needed to ensure knowledgeable and experienced care is provided to our residents. The STNA Development Coach will work with nursing management to develop a team of STNA mentors to ensure that orientation, skill development and competencies are completed correctly. The STNA Development Coach is held to a high standard of professionalism and conduct due to having an elevated position and is expected to be a positive example to new hires and all other staff. The STNA Development Coach is expected to support and articulate the culture and policies of the Christian Village Communities.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES:
Essential Job Duties/Responsibilities:
Responsibilities of the STNA Development Coach include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. Collaborate with the facility Scheduler in order to remain aware of appropriate open
STNA positions for hiring purposes.
2. Prescreen, interview, and select STNA candidates for open positions, including
appropriate candidates for the Nurse Aide Training classes.
3. On-the-job training of newly hired STNAs, continual training as well as remedial
training of existing STNAs.
4. Completes STNA New Hire Checklist form and forwards necessary paperwork,
including training checklist, to HR for file compliance.
5. Maintains consistent availability as a resource to all STNAs, especially New Hires,
to ensure they have what they need to always feel comfortable and competent in
their position and to ensure retention.
6. Communicates immediately to VP of Health Services, Compliance and Analytics,
Director of Nursing, and Human Resources Representative, any areas of concern in
the training and performance of New Hires.
7. Leads and conducts in-service training and education sessions as required, and as
needed, to ensure STNAs are properly trained and informed.
8. Modifies and updates STNA training as per Christian Village Communities policies
and procedures, as well as per the Ohio Department of Health requirements and
guidelines.
9. Participates in New Hire General Orientation, including providing initial TB
tests, physicals, FIT Testing, and required initial Dementia training.
10. Completes biannual STNA competency packets with each individual STNA.
11. Collaborates with nursing leadership to identify and develop STNA Mentors to ensure
adequate training of New Hires.
12. Completes all reports requested in conjunction with the duties and activities of
the position.
13. Attends all organizational meetings required for the position, including morning
meeting and daily nursing report.
14. Works to reduce STNA turnover. Goals for STNA turnover will be established as
as mutually agreed upon and adjusted as needed.
15. Works directly with nursing management to understand the needs of each nursing
unit.
16. Is available to provide immediate skills education to STNA team members as
needed.
17. Will work flexible hours, to include night shifts, to ensure all STNA team members
have the education, training, and support needed to ensure excellent resident care.
18. Will teach facility NATCEP course, offer study groups, and maintain a high passing
rate.
19. Will collaborate with HR Representative to coordinate STNA programs school
clinicals.
Other Duties:
1. Maintains safe and sanitary workstations and equipment.
2. Encourages independence, attendance at activities, restorative programs,
and rehabilitation.
3. Attends in-service training and education sessions, as assigned.
4. Performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by Supervisor.
5. Fills in as STNA or LPN, as needed and approved.
Position Qualifications:
1. Must have an active Ohio Licensed Practical Nurse license and must maintain same,
renewing appropriately.
2. Ability to understand and follow instructions in English, communicate effectively, and
perform simple arithmetic.
3. Ability to document care provided.
4. Must be an excellent communicator.
5. Must be able to deliver and demonstrate exceptional customer service.
6. Must be flexible to work nights, early mornings, weekends, and holidays,
as needed. Must be able to flex work schedule to accommodate training
needs of STNAs.
7. Must be authorized to provide NATCEP training or qualified to become certified to
train within a minimal amount of time from hire.
