What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Accounting Policy/Special Projects position at Christian Wyatt Group?
Director of Accounting Policy/Special Projects
If you are an Accounting Professional looking to make a great career move, we may have the opportunity for you. Our client is a high performing bank in the Louisiana Market, and they are looking for a Director of Accounting Policy who will also help manage Special Projects in the Controller’s Office.
The key facets of this role are to ensure proper understanding and implementation of accounting policies and practices in accordance with US GAAP. You will be doing this not only for the bank, but enterprise wide, for all the client’s different lines of business. Being naturally curious, having the ability to research and apply new pronouncements as they come out from the SEC, FASB Board, or the AICPA is a must. You must be technically proficient but also possess excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) to ensure that key internal stakeholders are getting a cogent, logical, easy to understand messaging.
This is a highly visible role in the organization. Due to the ever-changing landscape in banking, you must not only be proactive, but responsive to requests from various stakeholders in the lines of business so they can be prompt in their decision-making processes. Helping them understand and impart the message within their own business line is important, as is helping them implement said change. It goes without saying that you will not only deal with internal stakeholders, but external ones as well. Communicating with auditors, examiners, and being the face of policy for the bank at various industry roundtables is a big part of this job as well.
Because the Policy work will only take up perhaps 40% of your time, you will have other areas to contribute in including helping revamp/update the CECL program, assist with Tax Credits, interface with the SEC Reporting Group, etc. This is definitely not a mundane role; it is a dynamic bank and the pace is quick and the expectations are high.
Intrigued? If you are a CPA, with six to eight plus years of public accounting background and an aggregate ten to twelve plus years of financial services industry experience and are ready to take your career to the next level, this could be the opportunity for you. We are interested in Policy, Audit, SEC Reporting, SOX/Controls backgrounds from banking as well. If you are not a banker, but are a ‘policy person’ by trade, please inquire in confidence. We look forward to hearing from you.
Salary : $150,000 - $190,000
