This role is a HYBRID position requiring frequent on-site work. Must be within a commutable distance.
Epic certification preferred; if not certified, must become Epic certified within 3 weeks of completing the mandatory Epic training sessions.
Must be available to travel for Epic training the week of 3/31/2025.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Healthcare Administration, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related discipline) OR 7 years of relevant experience in lieu of bachelor’s degree.
- Advanced degree (e.g., Master's in Healthcare Administration, MBA, or related field) is preferred.
- 6-8 years of experience with Epic systems or similar EHR platforms specifically in business intelligence tools.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in a leadership or supervisory role managing a team of analysts with hands-on experience in reporting tools with SQL knowledge.
- Epic Certifications in one of the following areas preferred
- Cogito Fundamentals Certification
- Data Model Certifications:
- Access Data Model Certification
- Clinical Data Model Certification
- Revenue Data Model Certification
- Cogito Tools Administration Certification
Primary Function:
The primary function of the Business Intelligence Senior Manager is to lead and manage the enterprise-wide implementation of the Epic system for business intelligence applications. This role involves coordinating and communicating with various stakeholders, managing the scope, schedule, and quality of the project, and ensuring that the system meets the organization's business needs. The Senior Manager will work closely with the VP EHR Implementation, other managers, and Epic representatives to guide workflow design, build, and test the system, and troubleshoot issues. The role includes exposure to business intelligence tools.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Directly lead and manage a team of Epic analysts working on reporting and BI tools such as Reporting workbench, SlicerDicer, Radar, Cogito SQL ensuring team alignment and effective support during and post implementation
- Lead and manage the implementation of Epic's business intelligence and analytics tools
- Manage the scope, schedule, budget, and quality of the BI applications
- Set clear expectations for team members and define their roles at each project phase
- Collaborate with the VP EHR Implementation and project managers to coordinate activities to ensure alignment on cross-functional workflow and content, facilitating seamless integration across the project and addressing interdependencies effectively.
- Advise and coach team members on project issues, key success factors, and lessons learned
- Appropriately match team member skills to team responsibilities
- Serve as point of contact for the BI area
- Identify and troubleshoot issues related to BI tools and data integration
- Lead data workflow design, build and test BI solutions, and analyze technical issues associated with Epic software
- Act as a liaison between organizational needs and Epic implementation staff
- Maintain regular communication with Epic representatives, including participating in weekly project team meetings
- Collaborate with Epic representatives, the organization's business community, and end users to ensure the BI system meets the organization's business needs regarding project deliverables and timeline
- Develop an understanding of operational needs to set the direction for the organization's data workflows
- Facilitate training and work with end users to ensure effective use of BI tools
- Review the status of BI projects and issues on an ongoing basis with leadership
- Hold weekly communications with team members to discuss the status of deliverables, shared issues, end-user concerns, budget, and upcoming milestones
- Own integrated efforts that span multiple applications such as data warehousing, reporting, and analytics
