ChristianaCare Edwin L. Granite, D.M.D., Oral Maxillofacial Surgery & Hospital Dentistry Clinic at Wilmington Hospital is looking for an Office Assistant.
Edwin L. Granite, D.M.D., Oral Maxillofacial Surgery & Hospital Dentistry Clinic is located at 501 West 14th Street in Wilmington, Delaware. The Edwin L. Granite, D.M.D., Oral Maxillofacial Surgery & Hospital Dentistry Clinic has provided community dental treatment for over 60 years, offering comprehensive care to uninsured and underinsured patients. The treatment is performed by dental residents who have completed their undergraduate training and spent an additional year as hospital residents. The clinic is supervised by community dentists who volunteer their time and faculty who work full- or part-time. This includes providing dental care for the uninsured and underinsured, including restorative dentistry, implants, endodontics, and children's dentistry.
The dental clinic is located at Wilmington Hospital Health Center, but residents consult in emergency rooms at both campuses and the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center. ChristianaCare is a regional referral center for Delaware and surrounding states, as well as a major provider of primary medical and dental care. In addition to the General Practice Dentistry residency, the Department also offers a fully accredited Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency program.

Duties / Responsibilities:
As an office assistant you will be involved with responsible for efficiently scheduling patients in the Ambulatory EMR and Dental software, ensuring appointments are scheduled according to department guidelines, documenting phone notes, and resolving prescription refill requests. You must demonstrate sound judgement in escalating urgent calls and can multitask. You will need to be skilled in customer service, providing service recovery on calls, and interacting with patients, physicians, dentists, and office staff. Be able to explain policies and procedures using medical knowledge and promote a positive patient encounter. Must be able to deescalate and address patient concerns professionally, reflecting the values of Love and Excellence. Perform assigned work safely, reporting unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, and safety violations to the supervisor. Provide department information to internal and external callers and work effectively as a team member.

Education Requirements:
- High School Graduate or GED required.
- Medical receptionist or medical assistant degree preferred but not required.
- Experience in a medical office setting or customer service environment is preferred but not required.
