Christie Clinic's department of Orthopedics/Sports Medicine is seeking a full-time Patient Service Representative from Monday-Friday 7:55am-5:00pm at Christie Clinic at the Fields.
Duties include greeting clinic patients upon arrival, answering incoming phone calls, scheduling appointments and assisting with the checkout or rescheduling process. The PSR will also serve as a liaison between patient and medical support staff ensuring that all patient matters are addressed prior to seeing the provider. Experience in a medical office setting is highly preferred.
JOB DUTIES: (This list may not include all of the duties assigned.)
- Greet patients and visitors in an efficient, professional and courteous manner and solicit customer feedback to improve service.
- Demonstrate the ability to promptly answer a high volume of phone calls and schedule patient appointments with ALL providers in a courteous manner.
- Provide check in process for patients.
- Verify and update necessary demographic information.
- Maintain provider schedules.
- Keep a neat and orderly work and lobby area.
- Maintain relevant office supplies for department effectiveness.
- Distribute mail to appropriate staff members.
- Schedule referral visits, tests, labs and appointments, as requested.
- Ensure patient completes all paperwork pertaining to the office visit including insurance information, etc. prior to patient seeing provider.
- Post any payments including co-payments, payments toward account balances, collections, etc.
- Change financial class for charges on a patient’s account that need filed to update INS.
- Maintain and balance payment drawer at end of day including cash, checks and charges.
- Enter adult history forms into the electronic medical record.
- Send P2P to referring providers and address jellybeans.
- Check Healow bean daily.
- Perform related work as required.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Demands include sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, stretching and lifting up to 25 pounds. Hearing within, or correctable to, normal range, vision correctable to 20/20 and manual dexterity for the operation of office equipment is required.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed in a medical office setting with possible exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, hazardous waste, bodily fluids and other waste common to a health care environment. Requirements may include working irregular hours.
PAY AND BENEFITS:
The estimated pay range for this position is exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related criteria.
