Christie Clinic's department of Convenient Care is seeking a Medical Assistant/Patient Service Representative on a rotating schedule, 3 days a week, 8am-8pm, including weekends and holidays in the rotation.
This will include primarily the Windsor clinic, with the possibility of Urbana and Danville coverage. Duties include greeting patients, assisting with check in/check out process, answering calls, scheduling appointments, collecting payments. You will serve as a liaison between patients and medical support staff. Duties will also include performance of skills through the delivery of patient care using a systematic patient assessment. Certified Nurse Assistant certificate and/or graduation from an accredited program for medical assistants and previous health care experience preferred.
JOB DUTIES: (This list may not include all of the duties assigned.)
- Greet patients and visitors in an efficient, professional and courteous manner and solicit customer feedback to improve service.
- Demonstrate the ability to promptly answer a high volume of phone calls and schedule patient appointments with providers.
- Provide check-in process for patients.
- Verify and update necessary demographic information. Apply co-payments, as needed.
- Maintain provider schedules.
- Keep a neat and orderly work and lobby area.
- Ensure that patient completes router form.
- Prepare exam and treatment rooms with necessary instruments prior to appointment. Clean and restock following appointment.
- Assist patient to exam room, take vitals, weight and height of patient. Enter information into the electronic medical record.
- Maintain and update patient medical record upon visit including allergies, medications, etc. and enter into the electronic medical record.
- Flag appropriate room for provider to see patient.
- Assist with procedures during appointment.
- Perform lab tests, treatments, etc., as directed by provider.
- Perform related work as required.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Demands include sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, stretching and lifting up to 75 pounds. Hearing within, or correctable to, normal range, vision correctable to 20/20 and manual dexterity for the operation of office equipment is required.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed in a clinical setting with possible exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, hazardous waste, bodily fluids and other waste common to a health care environment. Requirements include working weekends, evenings, holidays, etc. as associated with working in Convenient Care.
