What are the responsibilities and job description for the RN - Chemotherapy - Hematology-Oncology position at Christie Clinic?
Christie Clinic's department of Hematology-Oncology is seeking a full-time Registered Nurse - Chemotherapy (Sign-On Bonus Available) from Monday - Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm at the University clinic, with no night or weekend requirements. You will deliver care to cancer patients and our commitment to excellence and cutting-edge treatments.
Duties include the provision of professional nursing care for clinic patients following established standards and practices, safely administers chemotherapeutic agents within our chemotherapy suite, provide professional case management of oral chemotherapy patient population. Current ONS chemotherapy/biotherapy provider card (or ability to achieve within 6 months of employment) is required and Professional nursing experience is highly preferred.
If you do not already have the ONS Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Provider Card, the department will partner with you by providing paid time to study and test for the provider card so you are able to obtain that achievement.
Hematology-Oncology experience is not required, the department will provide you with all the tools and resources necessary to transform you into an Oncology Chemotherapy nurse through training, certifications, etc.
JOB DUTIES: (This list may not include all of the duties assigned.)
- Administer prescribed medications and treatment in accordance with nursing standards and as directed by provider.
- Prepare equipment and aid provider during treatment, examination and/or testing of the patient.
- Observe, record and report patient’s condition and reaction to medication and/or treatment to provider.
- Act as a liaison between the patient and provider regarding complaints, concerns, etc.
- Instruct patient and family regarding medication, treatment instructions and patient education.
- Demonstrate the ability to respond to triage calls using nursing assessment.
- Administer IV’s for Chemotherapy and/or Phlebotomy.
- Perform related work as directed, by coordinator and as required.
Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
- Evidence of annual completion of health-related courses and/or seminars with a certificate and/or CEU’s
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Demands include sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, stretching and lifting up to 75 pounds. Hearing within, or correctable to, normal range, vision correctable to 20/20 and manual dexterity for the operation of office equipment is required.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed in a clinical setting with possible exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances and bodily fluids. Requirements may include working irregular hours.

The estimated pay range for this position is exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related criteria.
