What are the responsibilities and job description for the Ultrasonographer/Team Lead - Radiology position at Christie Clinic?
Christie Clinic's department of Radiology is seeking a full-time Ultrasonographer/Team Lead at the University clinic from Monday-Friday 7:30am-5:00pm. This position will require the ability to cover the Windsor and Fields locations, as needed.
Duties include performing a wide range of ultrasound procedures in order to produce results for providers in the diagnosis of diseases.
American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) is required. However, a new graduate will be considered.
o Abdomen (AB), Breast (BR), and Vascular (RVT) certifications preferred; minimally willing to achieve.
JOB DUTIES: (This list may not include all of the duties assigned.)
- Greet the patient with eye contact, introduce yourself, and verify correct patient by using proper patient identifiers.
- Ensure the correct ordering provider and test.
- Perform a wide range of Ultrasound procedures, including but not limited to, abdominal, testicular, breast, thyroid, vascular and soft tissue examinations.
- Assist the Radiologist in special scans such as cyst aspirations, biopsies and drainages.
- Ensure that sterile and aseptic techniques are used at all times.
- Explain the procedure, prepare and position the patient, select appropriate transducers and other necessary items for the procedure.
- Verify that the exam on the work list is the correct exam and that the accession number matches the number on the order.
- Evaluate the clinical history and document history to record into electronic medical record.
- Recognize the need for additional imaging and/or positioning to fully illustrate the area in question.
- Adjust frequency, gain, depth, focal zone, size and field of view. Use harmonies or color Doppler and other factors, as necessary.
- Verify the images on the PACS system, making certain that all images have arrived and all notes are correct.
- Assist in the training of new ultrasound team members.
- Act as a liaison between the radiologists, leadership, and the ultrasound team members with changes in protocols, preps, etc.
- Assist leadership with maintaining modality specific workflows and resource material.
- Lead on initial accreditation and subsequent reaccreditations.
- Assist in ordering of supplies.
- Assist coordinator with team member schedule.
- Perform related work as required.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Completion of an accredited ultrasound program.
CERTIFICATE/LICENSE:
- American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS)
- Abdomen (AB), Breast (BR), and Vascular (RVT) certifications preferred; minimally willing to achieve.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Demands include sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, stretching and lifting up to 50 pounds. The ability to work in a dimly lit environment is required. Hearing within, or correctable to, normal range, vision correctable to 20/20 and manual dexterity for the operation of office equipment is required.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed in an outpatient environment.
