What are the responsibilities and job description for the Phase I Engineer position at Christoper B Burke Engineering?
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Applies Civil Engineering principles, methods, and techniques as they relate to assigned projects.
- Proactively works to expand knowledge and understanding of Local, State, and Federal policies and procedures related to the development and completion of Preliminary Engineering and Environmental Studies, including NEPA, as well as applicable design standards and requirements.
- Attends various training seminars (online and / or in person) to expand overall knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Strives for quality and completeness of preliminary engineering design assignments and prepares disposition of review comments.
- Performs field reviews as required to understand the setting, key elements / challenges, and context of assigned projects and provides accurate documentation of field observations.
- Completes calculations as required for the accurate design of project elements.
- Assists with preliminary design quantities related to roadway plan, profiles, and earthwork grading for purposes of preparing cost estimates.
- Utilizes MicroStation to prepare preliminary design plans.
- Effectively works as part of a collaborative interdisciplinary project team, proactively coordinating design development, and communicating status of project assignments and timelines with supervisor, other departments / disciplines, subconsultants, and clients to provide project updates.
- Assists with preparation and participates in project related client and agency coordination meetings, and public involvement meetings.
- Develops an understanding and familiarity with how project budgets are created and executed.
- Works in an effective and efficient manner to assist with projection completion per established schedules and budgets.
- Demonstrates self-motivation and attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to complete assigned tasks independently as required.

CBBEL is a hybrid office (4 days onsite, 1 day remote).
