Position Summary
The Junior Interior Designer will participate in various design projects, working alongside other designers, utilizing their creativity and attention to detail to assist the designers and learning processes and techniques.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide a 5-star customer experience to our clients
- Participate in various design projects to learn process and technique
- Assist designer(s) in preparation of client meetings, including creating concepts
- Assist designer(s) in client meetings, taking notes, documentation, addendum creation, redlining and communicating with architectural team and clients
- Assist designer(s) with creating design concepts that are functional and appropriate for the client’s home based on interactions with clients
- Collaborate with peers to assist in creating high end design, as well as listening to feedback to hone skills and improve design
- Assist designer(s) with completing, reviewing and following up on all necessary paperwork in a timely manner, including forwarding paperwork to purchasing, construction and subcontractors
- Assist designer(s) with communications with Architectural Drafter(s) to ensure all necessary paperwork is provided for them to create accurate and timely addendums and diagrams
- Attend various client home walks and events alongside designer(s) to learn processes and become familiar with client questions
- Assist designer(s) with client services communications to ensure client concerns are addressed and resolved quickly and appropriately
- Assist designer(s) with purchasing communication for interior options pricing (i.e., countertops, wall coverings, window coverings.)
- Assist designer(s) with working with vendors/suppliers to assist with maintaining strong relationships
- Attend alongside designer(s) vendor meetings prior to installation, to ensure proper installation of tile, flooring, and countertops for accuracy
- Attend field inspections alongside designer(s) to review various materials installation to ensure design intent is carried out
- Assist designer(s) with communications with Construction to keep them informed of progress
- Stay up to date with design trends, product lines, and related technology.
Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in interior design from accredited institution preferred
- One to two years working in interior design for a single-family home builder or design industry
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Multi –tasking ability with strong problem-solving skills
- Professional, organized, self-starter
- Computer skills including basic Microsoft Office programs - Outlook, Excel, Word
