What are the responsibilities and job description for the Machinist Intern position at Chromalloy?
POSITION SUMMARY:
Internship for individuals enrolled in a precisions manufacturing program or equivalent. Will be responsible for machining new and repaired engine components and working under the supervision of a higher skilled Machinist.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Setup and operation of manual mills and lathes
Setup and operation of CNC mills and lathes
Machining of metals and plasma/flame spray coatings
Measurement of all machined features
Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on facility machinery.
Complete daily maintenance and repair logs.
Communicate with operators from other shifts.
Maintain and secure work tools.
Clean and maintain work area.
Perform back-up for assembly line.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent
Must be enrolled in a precision machining program or equivalent
Basic reading, writing, and some advanced arithmetic skills required
Completed basic lathe training for safe operation of equipment
Experience using one or more of the following tools: lathe, milling machine, drill press, and vertical/horizontal cut off saw.
Ability to read, interpret, and create blueprints and schematics.
Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and computers.
Ability to lift up to 30 pounds required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment. Work involves frequent lifting of materials up to 30 pounds. Machinery and tool operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protectors and steel toe boots. Loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted.
