What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sales Assistant position at Chronicle Books?
Chronicle Books is looking for a Sales Assistant to provide efficient day-to-day administrative and project support to Account Managers and our Sales department. We are looking for someone with a deep passion for books and publishing as well as a desire to provide exceptional task support. Applicants will need a combination of enthusiasm for working with innovative products and a wide variety of retailers, and a robust productivity skillset.
The Sales Assistant will route special market account purchase orders, they will directly liaise with the relevant contacts at key accounts, they will assist in the preparation for sales calls and seasonal previews, and they will support our Specialty team with new business opportunities, including research and outreach to new leads and contacts. Other functions of the job include helping with the curation of titles in Salesforce, coordinating sales materials, compiling title information and image files, and interacting with relevant inter-company contacts including Sales, Marketing, Operations, Finance, Distribution, and Production. Applicants will need a minimum of 1-2 years in an equivalent role, with customer service and/or some retail experience preferred. Advanced Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word skills strongly preferred as well, and prior experience with Salesforce.com and/or Adobe Creative Suite is also a plus. Clear and effective written/verbal communication, a sharp attention to detail, strong time-management skills, and a desire to work in a high-performing, collaborative, team environment are also required. This position is for someone who is strongly self-motivated with the ability and initiative to work independently, as well as collaboratively.
Employees at Chronicle Books follow a flexible hybrid schedule of working a minimum of 2 days per week and up to 4 days per week in our San Francisco office, depending on project and business needs.
Hiring Salary Range: $45,000 - $50,000. This range represents the anticipated low and high end of the expected salary for this position and will be determined by factors including but not limited to: applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, and geographic location as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. This position is also eligible for our profit share plan.
