What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Community Response & Recovery position at Chrysalis Center Inc?
Job Summary :
The Director of Community Response & Recovery will work with the Senior Leadership Team, multiple Chrysalis departments, and a wide range of external stakeholders to shape and coordinate Chrysalis’ response to the January 2025 wildfire events in Los Angeles County. The Director will define and shape the role Chrysalis will play in what will be a challenging, sustained, and complex recovery response in the short- and long-term.
Given Chrysalis’ decades of experience providing critical employment services to vulnerable communities in Southern California, as well as its proven track record operating best-in-class employment social enterprises (ESEs), Chrysalis stands ready to play a unique role in helping Los Angeles effectively recover from these disasters, while providing life-changing career opportunities to the individuals we serve. Reporting to the VP of Strategy & External Relations, the Director will help Chrysalis respond in an effective and comprehensive manner, consistent with our Mission, Values, and core competencies.
Beyond the Wildfire Recovery, there are strategic opportunities in the coming years, such as the 2026 World Cup and 2028 Olympics, for Chrysalis to identify and respond to mission-aligned opportunities.
Duties and Responsibilities include :
External Landscape Analysis & Representation (40%)
- Serve as a visible and proactive Chrysalis representative in regional recovery efforts, identifying and actively engaging in task forces, webinars, committees, working groups, and other bodies involved in addressing disaster recovery.
- Summarize and share notes, action items, and other critical information with internal stakeholders involved in the effort.
- Monitor media, websites, and other sources for information about funding and contracting opportunities related to this effort, in particular through Chrysalis’ employment social enterprises (ESEs).
- Identify opportunities for Chrysalis to participate in regional events and meetings.
