With 10 students aged 3-5, and two teachers, we offer the high quality education of a larger center, with the benefit of a homey environment and intimate teacher/child ratio. Our days are spent in student-led play indoors and out in the yard, reading stories, singing songs and playing games on circle time, art, puzzles, make-believe, and more. Job Description:
As an Assistant Teacher, you will work closely with the Lead Teacher to facilitate student engagement, promote social-emotional learning, and communicate with families. Looking for a passionate, dedicated person who loves kids and has experience with preschool-aged children.
Responsibilities:
Support the creation of a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children.
Engage with children in a positive and encouraging manner, fostering their social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
Assist in the preparation and maintenance of the classroom environment, including light organizing and cleaning.
Collaborate with the Lead Teacher and other staff to ensure the program meets the needs of all children.
Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers at pick up and drop-off, providing updates on their child's days and general progress.
Assist in keeping records on the app Brightwheel, inputting snack/meal info, photos, potty updates.
Helping children with pottying, diaper changes, and hand washing.
Adhere to all state regulations and company policies regarding health, safety, and educational standards.
About 30 hours per week from September to June. To start March 2025.
For the 2025-2026 school year, the job will grow to include extended care from 2-3:30 PM, more like 40 hours per week.
Qualifications:
Interest in and affection for preschool-aged children
Experience working with young children in a child care or educational setting (preferred) or nanny/babysitting or family setting
Knowledge of child development and best practices in early childhood education, or eagerness to learn
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
CPR and First Aid certification, Food Handler’s Card (or willingness to obtain).
Ability to pass a background check and meet all state licensing requirements.
