Position Summary:
This position provides hospital based social work consultation to children who are suspected victims of child abuse and neglect as a member of Children’s Child Advocacy and Protective Services (CAPS) program. Encourages and promotes healthy adjustment by providing case consultation and system advocacy services within a multi-disciplinary team including medical, child welfare, and law enforcement professionals. Recommends referrals to community agencies and programs and acts as a liaison with community resources and agencies.
Position Requirements:
- Master of Social Work (MSW) and Wisconsin Advanced Practice Social Work (APSW) certification/licensure required.
- Minimum of one year of social work or related field experience. Hospital experience preferred.
- Crisis intervention and basic counseling skills.
- Experience with the social, psychological and economic issues of children/families
- Knowledge of structure of the child welfare and law enforcement systems, guardianship process and community pediatric resources preferred.
- Knowledge of multi-disciplinary team process.
- Computer skills and the ability to learn the CHHS database and electronic medical records, email and pager system.
- Ability to function independently, prioritize and manage time
- The hours for this position are 8:30am-5:00pm, Monday thru Friday. Leaders are open to discussing the options for the work hours to fit scheduling needs.
