Overview
Production Supervisor - 1st Shift
This person works with little to no supervision, manufacturing a broad range of the Company’s products in an extensive number of work centers.
Salary Range: 52,000 - 58,000
Responsibilities
- Manipulates Company materials including, but not limited to, Production Supplies, Raw Materials, Other Materials Purchased, Work In Process, Value Added Items and Finished Goods
- Sets up molds, jigs and other production tooling
- Operates an extensive number of production machines.
- Utilizes mechanical measurement tools to determine dimensions.
- Performs mathematical calculations
- Extracts data from drawings, specifications charts, tables, and other documents
- Adjusts machines and fixtures.
- Performs preventative maintenance on production machines.
- Cleans up work areas, machines and production tooling.
- Records data regarding work performed.
- Recommends improved procedures and methodologies that yield continuous improvement in activities at the work center/s, including but not limited to production methods that increase acceptance rates of finished goods, decrease production costs, decrease production lead-time, decrease effluent pollution and improve ergonomics.
- Creates a daily work list based on the production schedule.
- Disseminates the daily work list and methodologies utilized to employees.
- Assures that work is being done according to information disseminated to employees.
- Adherence to work and vacation schedules.
- Motivation, morale, training and instruction of employees.
- Conformance to health and safety requirements of employees and visitors.
- Resolution of personnel related problems.
- Reporting of labor hours and material usage.
- Performance evaluations of assigned employees.
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
- Lift product weighing up to 80 lbs. to table height and/or shelf height (up to 6’)
- Stand for extended periods of time
- Work wearing dust mask and/or respirator appropriate to working conditions
- Work wearing safety glasses
- Climb ladders
- Reach with arms fully extended in any direction
- Possess full manual dexterity
- Walk to all areas of the manufacturing factories
- Move drums weighting up to 500 lbs. with the use of a hand truck
- Push or pull carts loaded with product
Working Conditions:
Daily exposure to ceramic fiber and dust throughout the day. Will experience all working conditions including normal office environment, exposure to chemicals, heat, ceramic fibers, dust and noise.

ZIRCAR Products, Inc. was founded in 1974 by Bernie H. Hamling when he obtained a license to manufacture the refractory oxide materials he developed as Development Manager in the Corporate Research Department of Union Carbide Corporation. Among the 12 US patents involved, methods of manufacturing textiles of metal oxides, nitrides and carbides were included. Mr. Hamling’s work won him two 1968 IR 100 Awards from Industrial Research Magazine. He set up operations in the village of Florida, New York – about one hour northwest of New York City.
