Who We’re Looking For
CIG is seeking a skilled entry-level multicultural outreach specialist in the public relations and public information industry. The ideal candidate must be fluent in both English and Spanish and have excellent writing and public speaking skills in both languages . From grassroots community outreach to some of the largest transportation and infrastructure initiatives in the state, this individual will contribute to projects that impact the community and transform the state of Colorado.
The primary responsibilities of this role involve supporting CIG’s multilingual outreach team through translations, transcreations, simultaneous interpretation, public events attendance and meeting facilitation for public information projects. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, cultural sensitivity, and a comprehensive understanding of Colorado’s multicultural communities. This is a crucial role in ensuring effective communication and engagement with Colorado’s diverse audiences. The candidate will also value team success, possesses an outstanding work ethic, provide clients with superior customer service and hold themselves to the highest quality standards.

What You’ll Do
Role-Specific
Attend and support planning for public engagement initiatives : public meetings, festivals, open houses and other events / meetings for various projects.Conduct research to support project outreach efforts.Assist with stakeholder list building and database management.Prepare event and meeting materials, ensuring accuracy and cultural sensitivity.Coordinate with internal teams on materials and equipment needed for outreach activities.Ensure internal and external materials and equipment are properly maintained, stored and logged.Coordinate participation and attendance, in a timely manner, with clients, city agencies, nonprofits, businesses and other organizations on events, festivals, meetings, etc.Work with the multicultural outreach team on various infrastructure projects.Provide accurate and timely translations of written materials, documents and communications from English to Spanish and vice versa to ensure linguistic and cultural accuracy.Assist with bilingual media relations, including developing press releases, media advisories, talking points and conducting media interviews as needed.Serve as an interpreter during in-person and / or virtual meetings, presentations, and public events, ensuring effective communication between English and Spanish speakers.Translate complex engineering or construction terminology into layman’s terms, collaborating with designers to create graphics that improve communication.Build relationships with community leaders, organizations, and stakeholders to foster collaboration and trust.Demonstrate an understanding and appreciation of various cultural practices, customs and norms within Colorado’s multicultural communities.Adapt communication styles and approaches to effectively engage diverse audiences and address their unique needs and concerns.Sensitively navigate cultural differences and resolve communication challenges that may arise.General
Work with clients such as Denver International Airport, Colorado Department of Transportation, City and County of Denver, Department of Transportation and Infrastructure and large contractors and engineering firms.Creatively and efficiently find ways to resolve issues.Respond to stakeholder inquiries and complaints.Plan and execute project-related events.Report regularly to senior staff and seek guidance as needed.What We’d Like You to Have
Fluency in both English and Spanish, with exceptional written and verbal communication skills in both languages.Proven experience in community outreach and public engagement within multicultural communities.Relevant experience in community outreach, public information, or communications industry.A degree in a relevant field is preferred but may be substituted with relevant work experience.Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, including expertise in AP Style.Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, the ability to manage a diverse workload and unique teams, and complete projects on time with minimal supervision.A commitment to quality and a passion to constantly learn and evolve communication strategies.Solution-oriented, innovative and creative thinker.Detail-oriented multitasker.Quick learner who uses feedback from clients and CIG team members to continually grow and improve.A passion for working on projects that shape your community.Bonus qualifications (please identify in cover letter, if applicable) :
