Position Introduction/Key Duties
Cimarron is seeking a Systems Verification & Requirements Engineer to support the Mars Ascent Vehicle Integrated System (MAVIS) program in Huntsville, AL. MAVIS is a critical part of NASA’s Mars Sample Return campaign, designed to launch collected Martian samples back to Earth.
This position supports a 9/80 work schedule, providing every other Friday off.
This is a hybrid position that offers the flexibility of working remotely up to three days per week!
The current MAVIS program effort is funded through the Preliminary Design Review (PDR), scheduled for June 2025. While future phases are contingent, the anticipated path—under a typical scenario—includes progression to the Critical Design Review (CDR) in 2026, followed by manufacturing, integration, and test activities in 2027 and beyond.

Key Duties
- Define verification methods (test, analysis, inspection, or demonstration) for each system and subsystem requirement.
- Analyze and allocate system-level requirements into subsystem requirements for propulsion, avionics, structures & mechanisms, guidance & control, and flight software.
- Support derivation and documentation of interface requirements across engineering disciplines.
- Maintain consistency of requirements and manage baselines in coordination with Configuration Management (CM).
- Participate in peer reviews to ensure quality and completeness of requirements.
- Collaborate with the design team to verify and confirm compliance with established requirements.
Required Skills, Experience, and Education :
- Due to facility security requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for consideration at this time.
- 5 or more years of experience in requirements development for aerospace or defense systems.
- Strong knowledge of requirements writing best practices (e.g., Complete, Consistent, Correct, Feasible, Necessary, Singular, Succinct, Unambiguous, Verifiable, What/Not How).
- Experience with DOORS NG for requirements management and traceability.
- Experience defining and executing verification & validation (V&V) methods (test, analysis, inspection, or demonstration).
- Bachelor's degree.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Systems engineering experience in space systems, launch vehicles, or deep-space missions.
- Proficiency in MBSE methodologies and SysML (e.g., Cameo Systems Modeler).
