What are the responsibilities and job description for the Flight Software Developer position at Cimarron Software?
Cimarron is seeking a Senior Flight Software Developer to support the Boeing Starliner program in Houston, TX. In this role, you will develop the software that powers the system management systems (SMS) and flight management systems (FMS) of the Starliner spacecraft, enabling crewed missions to the International Space Station and opening new frontiers in space exploration!
Key Duties:
- Develop, test, and maintain software for SMS and FMS, ensuring compliance with program requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers and system architects, to design and integrate flight software solutions.
- Debug and troubleshoot software issues during the development and testing phases.
- Perform code reviews and implement software best practices to enhance system reliability and performance.
- Document and maintain detailed technical specifications and reports.
Required Skills, Experience, and Education:
- Due to facility security requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for consideration at this time.
- Ability to complete a pre-employment background check and drug screening, which will include but is not limited to testing for marijuana use.
- 5 or more years of software development experience.
- Strong proficiency in programming languages such as C, C , or Python.
- Experience with embedded systems and real-time operating systems (RTOS).
- Experience working in the aerospace or defense industry.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a collaborative environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
Desired Skills, Experience, and Education:
- 10 or more years of related experience.
- Familiarity with flight software development standards and processes (DO-178 or similar).
- Experience with spacecraft or aviation software systems.
- Knowledge of software verification and validation methods.
