POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for sorting; arranging in order; and shelving returned materials. This position is also responsible for maintaining and retrieving material in all formats at a branch location.
DUTIES
- Sorts and shelves books, magazines, pamphlets, audiovisual materials and other materials accurately for branch.
- Provides proactive customer service by assisting with directional and simple reference questions.
- Retrieves materials for customer holds and processes requests from other agencies.
- Assists with merchandising.
- Shelf reads according to schedule for accurate order of materials.
- Shifts and straightens materials as necessary.
- Searches for misplaced or lost materials.
- Assists with weeding, as assigned.
- Pulls materials requiring mending or binding.
- Assists with training for new Shelvers as directed.
- Assists with processing donations.
- Understands and supports the Library’s mission, vision, culture, and structure, and demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of the Library’s policies and procedures.
