- VETERAN'S CREDIT: 20% additional credit is given for military service or service as a Red Cross nurse. To qualify, the following requirements must be met EACH TIME an application is filed for an exam; have an honorable discharge or transfer to the reserves with evidence of satisfactory service, OR have been a Red Cross nurse; have served on active duty; and have shown an official document verifying such service (e.g., DD-214), no later than the exam date; and have passed the civil service exam.
- MEDICAL EXAM: Must pass any required medical exam before appointment.
- SECURITY CLEARANCE: Applicants for appointment must successfully pass a security investigation which includes a check of employment references and criminal records.

TITLE: CUSTODIAN
SALARY RANGE: $16.55 hourly

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
Performs general cleaning and custodial work in and about Cincinnati Public Schools (CPS) buildings.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
KNOWLEDGE OF:
basic math (add, subtract, multiply and divide).
basic English sufficient to read and understand simple directions.
ABILITY TO:
follow written and oral instructions accurately.
learn custodial methods, supplies, materials, chemicals, tools and equipment.
learn safety, sanitization and energy-conservation requirement of the Board.
work effectively with all types of people.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Must have a valid Driver License. Must have physical strength and stamina to lift/carry/move heavy objects weighing as much as 80 pounds. Working conditions include indoor and outdoor environment; exposure to chemicals, dust, and dirt. Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions (heat and cold), confined spaces and isolated areas. Must be able to work on slippery or uneven surfaces and on ladders and scaffolds.

SUBJECTS AND WEIGHTS OF TEST SECTIONS:
The selection process is worth 100% of the exam grade and consists of a written examination. The passing score will be determined after the examination by the Civil Seervice Examiner together with the Secretary. Determination of the passing score will be based on the job analysis, analysis of examination results, consultation with subject matter experts other professional methods. Veteran's points will be added to passing score.
