Position Overview
As a Principal at Cincinnati Public Schools (CPS), you will be a visionary leader committed to driving student achievement, fostering an inclusive and equitable learning environment, and building strong community partnerships. You will lead the development and execution of school programs, instructional excellence, and staff collaboration, ensuring every student has access to a high-quality education. With a focus on continuous improvement and culturally responsive practices, you will inspire and support teachers and staff in creating a thriving, safe, and academically rigorous school community. As the leader of a career technical high school, you will also ensure the integration of academic rigor with career-focused, hands-on learning opportunities, preparing students for both post-secondary education and the workforce.
Responsibilities
Leadership & Vision
- Lead the development and implementation of a shared mission, vision, and core values that align with CPS and the community.
- Establish and prioritize school goals in alignment with district priorities, student needs, and staff development.
- Facilitate collaborative leadership and data-driven decision-making to improve student outcomes and teaching effectiveness.
- Foster a positive, inclusive school climate that promotes equity, safety, and a sense of belonging for all students.
Instructional Excellence & Professional Development
- Supervise and evaluate instructional programs to ensure high standards and student achievement across all demographics
- Lead staff development focused on evidence-based practices and continuous improvement in teaching and learning.
- Drive the implementation and improvement of school curricula, ensuring alignment with district standards and student needs.
- Mentor and guide teachers, providing feedback and support to promote professional growth and leadership opportunities.
Culture, Equity, & Community Engagement
- Promote a culture of equity and inclusiveness through culturally responsive policies and practices.
- Develop and sustain strong partnerships with families, community leaders, and local organizations to support school initiatives.
- Utilize the school as a hub to address community needs and foster a positive relationship between the school and the wider community.
- Engage in conflict resolution, collaborative communication, and building strong relationships with students, staff, and stakeholders.
Operational Management & Resources
- Oversee the maintenance and operation of school facilities, ensuring a safe, orderly, and well-maintained learning environment.
- Collaborate in budget planning and resource allocation to meet school needs, ensuring fiscal responsibility and timely reporting.
- Supervise the hiring, training, and performance evaluation of diverse and culturally competent staff.
- Ensure effective implementation of extracurricular activities that enhance student growth and school culture.
Accountability & Decision Making
- Demonstrate sound judgment in decision-making processes, taking responsibility for outcomes and accountability for school performance.
- Align school operations with Board policies, district regulations, and community expectations.
- Represent the school in external partnerships and business initiatives to enhance school visibility and community engagement.
Qualifications
- Education: Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership, Administration, or a related field.
- Licensure: Valid Ohio Principal’s License.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of classroom teaching and/or administrative experience.
- At least three years of school-based administrative experience (Principal or Assistant Principal preferred).
- Strong understanding of Ohio Principal Standards, including student achievement, leadership, data-driven decision-making, communication, and cultural responsiveness.
- Expertise in curriculum development, instructional practices, and programs for diverse learners, including students with disabilities and ESL populations.Proven ability to build a positive, inclusive, and culturally responsive school environment.
- Expertise in Career Technical Education programming, workforce readiness, marketing, integration with academics, CTE budgeting, staffing, and licensure requirements.
- Effective communication, collaboration, and conflict resolution skills.
Salary and Benefits
- Contract Type: Principal
- Salary Range: $114,906.96 - $136,532.61, commensurate with experience per the CAAS Agreement
- Principals will be placed at a level equal to their years of leadership as principals and other salary differentials, if applicable.
